Emmanuel's departure could energize the base, thus minimizing midterm the losses. I think Neptune expulains some poor decisions for his boss. Gietner, Emmanuel, and Gibbs are despised by the base. The Republican's chart is mixed.

Hi Marjorie,I love your site. Its interesting that you have looked at Ronan Keatings chart. Would you in the interest of fair play look at the innocent victim's chart - Yvonne Keating? It only seems fair that she should come out of this sorry episode, happy, and with a relationship that has more to offer. Thank you:)

Katy Perry and the Quintile
From: joe (diviner21@gmail.com). (10 Sep 2010 18:43):
Marjorie, I love your site; its both entertaining and incisive. Could you do a look at Katy Perry's chart . She is going to marry Russell Brand this year. Katy was born Oct 25th, 1984, no BC time. I notice she has a bundle type chart with all planets contained in a 72 degree Mars/Pluto quintile, which is interesting as she went from being a faith based Christian singer to sex-bomb status as a pop star in just a few years. Thanks.

Media responsibility
From: meri. (10 Sep 2010 17:44):
With all the media "inflammation" of the coverage of the proposed Quran burning, it seems they are really the cause of the international furore. Is there any indication that the media is going to have to change its ways with Pluto in Capricorn?

Coalition and the LibDems
From: scs. (10 Sep 2010 12:50):
Dear Majorie, belated birthday greetings to you, i trust you had a lovely day yesterday surrrounded by all the people who love you! i was wondering if you would give us your thoughts on the coalition in the UK. What will be its fate? the news that emerge each day regarding what the tories intend to do becomes more and more frightening. How will the LibDems be effected by the policies that the tories intend to implement? Will this cause a rout, leading to the end of the LibDems? I look forward eagerly to your insights. Kindest regards,

Joss - 10th house Sun
From: Marjorie. (10 Sep 2010 10:33):
Joss, The birth chart shows potential but not necessarily what is lived out. The placings you describe should be successful though I've known 10th house Suns who lived quiet, unfulfilled lives. Some do go on to have public careers but a 10th house Sun can bring with it a sense of emptiness as if the individual's identity wasn't quite behind the ambitious push which is really mother's ambition not theirs. Impossible to say really. The potential is there but it does need pushed along either by will power or luck or circumstance.

NZ Mars Pluto
From: Marjorie. (09 Sep 2010 12:21):
Maggy, Thanks for your good wishes. Champagne comes later since my brain won't work after a glass. Thought on NZ's Mars Pluto - it can be the victim as well as possibly the perpetrator. My impression - and apologies to all Kiwis - from a position of almost total ignorance is that New Zealand is stuck in a time warp of a kind of old style 1950s England. Which kind of suggests that the NZ colonial child if you like is still marching to the old drumbeat psychologically. It is difficult to flip Mars Pluto from the downtrodden and inferior side to the other more ruthless/influential side of the coin. Mars Pluto does have a capacity for good though it isn't always easy to get at - hugely resourceful in crisis, courageous, relentless determination. Though it always comes with immense frustration. I'd think NZ's geographical isolation which may seem normal to Kiwis soaks up part of it.

Thanks

Majorie, three cheers for you and your brilliant site - hope the day passes in a nice haze of champagne and fun!

New Zealand
From: Maggy van Krimpen. (09 Sep 2010 12:00):
Like Sarah, I had hoped the 1840 chart was ours! there you go, all that denial......the Sun/Mars square Pluto could also refer to the Maori wars which were already raging, but as nice as any country is, we all whitewash our history. Just as missionaries saw their role as saviours to the heathen, all countries glamourise what they "had to do" to colonise a place. It is only 3 years ago I read a book by a NZer Peter Walker, called The Fox Boy, about a child of a Maori chief kidnapped and delivered to a childless state official in Wellington to be brought up as their child - even being sent to UK to boarding school - apparently this happened a lot. Also the appropriation of the land - only in the last few years have the Maori been compensated for it to an extent. Mars/Pluto is always forceful even in good contact and the fact that the Treaty of Waitangi was different in Maori than the conditions in English, can't surely be all down to translation. Many things have been tidied up with the passing of time, so that the original, hard stories are not talked about. Perhaps that is why I fail to see the character of the people = we are NOT the people, we TOOK the land. As in many civilisations, the Maori belong to the land, it is sacred and they the custodians, but we with out need to "own" and claim it have done awful deeds which perhaps is the basis of this chart. Sarah, the 1853 onelooks spot on for the Wahine, but also the earthquake chart for 3 September. The pr Moon (always considered the trigger for an event) was just past conjunction ON THE MIDPOINT OF the Sun/Mars conjunct the natal IC!!!!! Pluto conjunct p MC too. The prog asc is at 1 Cap (Transit Jup & Ur were on it at earthquake)and opp Saturn. The 1853 chart, though it pains me and has made me remember all sorts of what would now be called "racist" occasions, and attitudes, does actually work - and as Marjorie says, it is what it is. We should look more closely into our real history perhaps.

Maggie, keep whirling! As a NZer I completely agree that the characteristics of the 6 February 1840 chart is closer to our national character..Scorpio rising is in tune with our yachting, America's Cup etc. Also, with the partnerships formed between the Crown and iwi in the last two dates, the 1840's date has been cemented in law as the foundation of the country. Auto immune diseases
From: Maggy van Krimpen. (08 Sep 2010 21:52):
Pam and Suzy, Peter: all interesting, all relevant your astrological setups. Neptune can be angular (its best in a water house though, 4, 8 or 12 as it is subtle and does not relaly like being "out there" and angular). Marjorie has said it can't be responsible for auto immune signature on its own - which I'd agree with. Neptune has low thresholds, is hard to grap, which from Pam's description seems to fit her husband. However, it is ALWAYS a combination of other factors. IMy ears pricked up at Suzy's Mercury in Capricorn on the ascendant (the ruler of her 6th) - I would take that to be a strong contender in that position - any planet near the asc/desc axis is really VISIBLE in a person, if that Mercury is stressed or in some way tied into the Sun/Sat conjunction that would make sense. Having a lot of earth signs - or earth planets/fixed signs strong means IF you are ill, you tend to chronic situations (rather than the cardinal signs who are suddenly ill, suddenlybetter, or the mutable signs which are always up and down but usually mentally). Earth/fixed can go much longer than others because they can tolerate harder conditions than the others. I've known several cancer sufferers with these strong, who have had recurring bouts of the disease but they cope with it as a fact of life, and hardly let it disturb them, they just get on with their lives. Medical astrology is vastly under researched but there is a good one by Jane Ridder Patrick called Medical Astrology which you could look at, another (much more astrological detail in this) by Margaret Millard, a doctor who practices astrology in the US (some years ago) forgotten the name but you could try googling it. I do like thefirst one as for instance, if you kack one of the elements, it suggests foods that help or which should be avoided etc and I've found it useful and accurate.

New Zealand
From: Maggy van Krimpen. (08 Sep 2010 20:39):
Your question about NZ's chart has really vexed me, kept me awake Marjorie the last days! My old mentor (a Brit who emigrated) for sure told me the Sun/Mars conj was in the 5th - this cannot be if the date is indeed the Jan 1953 one. Is that because I can't relate to it? Scorpio rising! (we're not a seafaring nation, though that's how Europeans of course went there). The Sun/Mars on the IC square /UrPluto - well that would be exceptionally tough in an individual chart - I agree it does not fit the laid back impression (generally right) of Kiwi's.....however, that's what I said about the Australian chart which was so heavily Capricornian..... I do find Pluto very strong in charts were "culture" (move to another, change of, issues with etc) is an issue. The Sun/Mars could refer to the Maori, the real New Zelanders - and the Pluto square perhaps signifying them being forced into some kind of deal (not favourable) by the British Government, very many years after the first settlers landed. The firt European child born in NZ was in 1815, so any historic documents were made well after the vent. You can't imagine the turmoil in my mind - between the 17 Jan and the 6 Feb - I know the fmaily who owns the table the Trety of Waitangi was signed on (very few attended on that particular day), I think the signatures were later carved into the wood.....my brother is a legal expert on land issues in NZ....all this wirling about but I feel the 17 Jan does not reflect the character of the people. Its basically an earth/fire chart which exactly represents us - practical, agricultural, roll up your sleeves type. It hadme thinking for at least a day about WHY people emigrate - WHY did I stay away? Its a fondbelief of many that emigration is to see the world, but usually (speaking eprsonally) it is to get away from something - perhaps as you say there is rage and anger - instead of pioneers, perhaps we are just people who were fed up enough to make an effort to get out. I think this chart is exceptionally insular, which as a nation we are not. It does not reflect instantly recognisable characteristics - hospitality and friendliness. My old mentor used to say the only way NZ could show their true spsirit ws through sport (and that's why I'm sure he said that conj was in the 5th....which would make the thing hours earlier, thus on the 16 Jan (more turmoil!). I looked at the 6 Feb 1840 chart (Bay of Islands, probably about noon). This chart puts Sun Neptune up the top of the chart (how fitting is thatfor the Land of the Long White Cloud.... in Aquarius - whatever the faults, the Kiwi policy on environment is futuristic and far sighted, way ahead of their neighbours. Venus inCap is near the MC which feels right to me. There's a good Moon Uranus etc setup too in Pisces, which I felt may signify their quiet victory in allowing women to vote first in the world in about 1893. Jupiter in the 8th may relate to the huge financial changes made nationally in the 1990's, which other governments (inc UK) consider exceptional. They caused much heartache and poverty but got the country on the right road after the EEC blocked trade to a large extent. Both charts have Mars as the ruling planet, Aries in this one and Scorpio in the 1853. So I thought "what is an exceptional event (in the national memory) which I can run as a timer?" 10 April 1968 would be top of the list when the inter-island ferry, the Wahine, sank in Wellington harbour. I was in Wellington at the time, it was a day from hell, we could see the ferry two miles out in the bay and nobody could get to it. So what did the transits tell us? t Jup at 26 Leo, Ur 26 Virgo, Nep 26 Scorpio all aspect the the Sun EXACTLY , tr Saturn conjunct natal Moon, tr Node conjunct the Moon, progressed Mars conjunct Pluto (!) applying within a degree....... I have to say I am shocked and troubled that I don't recognise the "natal" chart, perhaps the day is correct, but the time is later, but this chart responds classically to aspects, whereas the 1840 one is quiet........now I have to go and lie down and muse again on the hugeness of this. Thanks for the challenge.

Person centered astrology
From: Marjorie. (08 Sep 2010 10:24):
Astrology is person centered which is why it helps to have place and time - so the celestial universe of our small solar system as seen from your vantage point at birth. If no birth time then earth-centered. No reason why you couldn't do a Jupiter or Mars centered chart. No doubt some geek somewhere has a piece of software that would calculate.

Evolving Astrology and Universes

Thanks LarryC thats something I have wondered about - on our home solar system if a child could one day be born on say e.g. the Moon or Mars - how would that chart read? And if the M Theory is correct and we live in a Multiverse can astrology adapt from the provincial to the expansive? Sorry Marjorie, impossible, I know, but fun!!

Auto Immune
From: Marjorie. (07 Sep 2010 11:22):
Pam, This probably isn't much help but Ebertin says that Sun Saturn is connected to rheumatism and other conditions that 'age' the cells. He was around of course before auto-immune was discovered. It is interesting in Suzy's case that she has somewhat similar to your husband a prominent Neptune. Since auto-immune is an aggressive condition rather than a disintegrating one in its essence. i.e. the body attacks itself rather than just deteriorating, it would seem to me to have to be more than just Neptune. The end result is deterioration but that isn't the primary cause. Your husband's chart is very Saturnine - Capricorn Sun opp Saturn. And he also has a very emphasised Pluto - all of which suggests an over controlled and rather battened down personality. But why certain people somatise their emotional pattern into a physical illness is a mystery and a birth time with houses is usually a helpful indicator. Good luck. It sounds a tough time for you.

Auto Immune Diseases
From: Suzy. (06 Sep 2010 18:35):
Hi, I've been really interested in the discussion on Auto Immune diseases and astrology. Speaking as someone who has a chronic auto-immune condition (rheumatoid arthritis) and an interest in astrology, I've often wondered if the tendency towards this particular health problem can be detected in the natal chart. In my own chart I have a T-square of Mars opposite Saturn both square Neptune. They are in Angular houses - Saturn in 1, Mars in 7, Neptune in 10. Also have Sun conjunct Saturn, Moon opposite Uranus, and my 6th house ruler Mercury is conjunct my Ascendant in Capricorn. I know two other people who have chronic conditions similar to mine and one of them also has Neptune in an angular house. Could this be a clue? He also has his Saturn conjunct a personal planet - in his case it's the Moon. Would love to hear anyone's opinion on this.

Hi Maggy and Marjorie. I liked your Posts about Families. I am not trying to act like a Child regarding the Family Script, but have been trying to heal a Family rift that went on way too long. The truth is Maggy, I have't seen my Grandmother in over 30 Year's. I had to live with the Stories my Mother told me. When Mum was in Hospital for the last 7 Month's of her Life.My Great Aunt, my Grandmother's younger Sister, asked me if I could see her. I told Mum, and she said she could. I wanted my Great Aunt's Mind at peace. They had remained close for Year's through Telephone Calls. After Mum died, I was expecting an end to the external Family communication. Yet my Great Aunt told me after Mum's Funeral, she had become fond of me, and wanted to remain in contact, which she has done. I amin touch often with my 2nd Cousin, my Greatn Aunt's Daughter, who rememebered my Brother, Sister, and I as Children. For me personally, I am trying to get past a lot, but I still care about the one's who are still living. We have to pick up the pieces of our lives, and I said that to my Mum, before she died.

Families
From: Maggy van Krimpen. (06 Sep 2010 11:14):
Yes, indeedy, Marjorie - we've been here before. That's why people (you/I) become so interested in psychology, and the "why" of relatioships. Though we can understand after digging, it is almost impossible to get rid of the personal "effects" - you grow up, and older and more tolerant (with luck) but one photo of one of them, or overhearing a chance remark can snap you straight back to being the kid on the receiving end of something you've never got over. That's where the Moon - with its hideously retentive emotional memory - drags you back - good and bad, for without pain we wouldn't have understand of others' pain. My grandmother wasn't terrible, its just that she loved boys! girls didn't figure ANYWHERE on her radar, but as she was born in 1880 or so, it probably was more a cultural attitude than a personal one. I too am amazed at the NZ chart and will get back after a couple of days on this - thanks for the chart details, specifically the 1853 date, its been a long time since I looked at it.

Families - many facets
From: Marjorie. (06 Sep 2010 10:54):
I understand Maggy about the need to let go of old family resentments - tho' never as simple as it sounds. But I've always been intrigued by the saintly on the outside to those outwith the family and a nightmare close at hand syndrome. Some people are good at putting on a facade until you get into close quarters when the mask comes off. And it also works within a family since sometimes bad chemistry makes one relationship more difficult than for other family members. And sometimes other family members just plain don't see since the unpleasantness since it is too difficult for them. The commonest 'false memory' of childhood oddly enough is the airbrushed one - was all great, loving parents/grandparents etc etc. It's always tricky to walk that line between seeing the reality and understanding that maybe you got the worst of them or perhaps just that you see deeper than other family members into the murky corners. I don't have bad memories of my own maternal grandmother though she was a Sun Pluto in Taurus square Saturn in Aquarius which is quite a thought - rock solid - but she was difficult especially for her daughters. My own mother whom everyone deemed a saint after she died was a Sun Scorpio with a Libra Ascendant and Saturn Mars in the 8th - so sweetly tactful on the outside but a different story on the inside.

New Zealand
From: Marjorie. (06 Sep 2010 10:33):
Effective self-government for NZ started from 17 January 1853 at 00.00 hrs. Though there is an earlier date of 6 Feb 1840 which is sometimes regarded as the foundation of NZ. The 1853 date works better if you plot the transition to Dominion status on 26 Sept 1907 on it. At that point tr Saturn was trine the 1853 Midheaven and the the Solar Arc Sun Mars was also trine MC; with tr Uranus conjunct the Solar Arc Ascendant. I'd be interested Maggy to hear your thoughts on that 1853 chart in terms of New Zealand temperament and lifestyle - it does seem power packed and angry which isn't the impression from outside.

Neptune
From: Maggy van Krimpen. (05 Sep 2010 21:00):
Peter, you are from a real "nest" of Scorpios being one yourself and having a father/grandma Scorpio also. Maybe it is your personal experience of your grandmother, and not down to Neptune (which is as good or bad as any other planet in fact). I only say this as I recently spoke to another family member about my "awful" grandmother who he remembers as a kind and loving old lady! that says it all really....we try and hang our labels on people according to our own feelings. But if you get another person to look at your grandmother's chart they may give a less biased, more realistic view. Even thinking of the life she must have lived to be now a 90 yr old lady gives you a clue to the difficulties she's had, so maybe you and I should be a little more understanding. We have had such protected lives compared with people of that age.

The fact that it occurred along an unknown fault, and not in one of the hot spots is quite something. That it was so huge, and not causing a single death, is almost unbelievable but that's down to the rural location. Growing up in Wellington the reason I even became interested in astrology was because I hoped earthquakes would be predictable! talk about naive......

Hi Maggy, I just looked up my Grandmother's Chart. She was my late Mother's Mother. My Scorpio Grandmother will be 90 in November. She is still into Yoga, but has Dementia. My Scorpio Father said, Yoga did wonders for her Body, too bad it didn't do something for her Mind. She has a Sun square Neptune, and it make's me think that she covered up a lot, and was in denial about m,any thing's which I know is true. She doesn't even know her eldest Daughter is Dead. I don't like Neptune. It can create a lot of lies and deceit.

Auto-immune diseases
From: Maggy van Krimpen. (04 Sep 2010 13:18):
Linda, interesting question, though I don't have experience in any way of auto-immune disease. Neptunewould be a chief suspect - it always lowers the boundaries, but it would perhaps need to be the chart ruler (ruling planet of the rising sign/ascendant) or the 6th house (health) or perhaps the 8th house. Jane Ridder-Patrick in her book on medical astrology (nodding in Nep's direction in regard to immune system diseases) says that the mutable signs are least robust - that is true - their very nature if fluid and fitting in, so perhaps a combination of a strong Neptune together with a not so strong Mercury would be a signature. This is a pure stab in the dark but as these diseases limit or change the communication ability (or gettign around, speaking, the motor functions) it would seem Mercury could be a stronger link. I would say, though, if the ascendant ruler and ruler of the 6th house are in good fettle, that planets in the 6th shouldn't worry anyone, they often apply more to work in a chart where health is not an issue - health is an issue in the charts of medical people because that is where their heart lies.....yet if you get a cancer victim's chart, and a cancer specialist's chart, you will find huge amounts of crossover contacts. One expresses it in ill-health, the other is at the opposite side of trying to discover WHY or HOW to fix it.

Solar Arcs
From: Marjorie. (04 Sep 2010 10:50):
Maggy, Solar Arcs could not be simpler, no mystery at all - except for why they work of course which is a question that needs firmly tossed into the trash can. Just calculate and then treat them as you would Progressions. Except you get a good deal more information from Solar Arcs since the outer planets move along with the inner so you get these pole axing periods when the new (SArc) positions collide with the natal chart.

From: Magy van Krimpen. (04 Sep 2010 10:46):
oooh, did not scroll down and see Marjorie's big piece on this - excellent, though to me Neptune on the ascendant seems less likely, he is quite fiery, even earthy in the face, though the rest of him is quite indecipherable - that photo of him in the dark glasses and the white t shirt looked like a uniform to me - he looked happy too. One day when I have time I WILL make a whole day free (ha ha) to work on your solar arcs as they work so well...

Hague - Sun/Mars midpoint
From: Marj. (03 Sep 2010 13:46):
Hague's Sun/Mars midpoint is 23 Taurus so you could be spot on with his Progressed Sun Moon Maggy - it certainly is an irritation provoking situation he's in or has landed himself in. And his Sun Mars is a very potent mix of fiery Aries and reckless, inflammable Mars in Cancer.
|
William Hague - time etc
From: Marjorie. (03 Sep 2010 13:34):
Know what you mean Maggy all most odd and I'm not at all sure he'll be carrying on. On birth times looking at his Tory Party Leadership (11 June 1997) and resignation (7 June 2001) I'd think an Aquarius Ascendant is about right but possibly 5.40/45 rather than 6 am. He has always seemed an oddball which kind of fits that Ascendant. 1997 put tr Jupiter on his Ascendant and tr Saturn trine his Midheaven. His departure in 2001 would have tr Pluto conjunct his Midheaven. Although he has a reputation as bright his career is littered with criticisms of misjudgements both personal and policy. In recent times he took the Tories out of mainstream Europe into alliance with a bunch of wildly right wing Rumanians or somesuch and he certainly was very allied to Lord Ashcroft whose business and tax affairs did seem to raise serious question marks. That Water Grand Trine on his chart will disappear him into his own inner dream world so he doesn't relate that clearly to reality at times. And one leg of it is an impulsive Mars in Cancer which is being jolted by tr Saturn fairly soon. The journalists clearly think there's more to come out on the story and his astrology certainly indicates a continuing saga of some sort. The miscarriage press release has been described as throwing the kitchen sink at the allegations but it does smell of desperation. Guido Fawkes the political blogger (order-order.com) called it an Aitkenesque 'sword of fidelity' statement. That referred to ex-MP Jonathan Aitken's notorious proclamation:- "If it falls to me to start a fight to cut out the cancer of bent and twisted journalism in our country with the simple sword of truth and the trusty shield of British fair play, so be it. I am ready for the fight. The fight against falsehood and those who peddle it.' After which he did a stretch at Her Majesty's Pleasure for perjury and perverting the course of justice. A 6am birth time puts tr Neptune conjunct Hague's Ascendant which certainly fits a sinking reputation. Or a 5.40 am puts his Solar Arc Ascendant conjunct his Sun both of which are about to get the tr Saturn opposition.

William Hague
From: Maggy van Krimpen. (03 Sep 2010 12:52):
Thanks for the Hague run-down Marjorie - ahead of the pack as usual. There is a lot of sympathy for him, though I find it hard to believe his wife would agree to letting the world know of their struggle for children - what has that to do with it, really? The general consensus is that he has been "naive" but sexuality naivete at his age is....well, a bit odd....the sharing hotel room thingy was not a one-off. His prog Sun & Moon are conjunct at 23 Taurus - perhaps that is an important midpoint on the chart? The Cancer Moon is sort of dampened by that strong Saturn in Capricorn opoosite...he has a lot of water and fire, 6 cardinal planets - so impulsive. The 6 am chart did not look like him, of course it remains unkwnon but round 7 am he would have Aries rising (he's bald, so that means fire is a strong possibility for ascendant). Running his solar return chart the Sun (conjunct Uranus which is out of sign) exactly squares Pluto and opposes Saturn - full stop? The Lunar return for August has 7 cardinal planets in a tight t-square with Pluto smack on the focal point conj MC squaring Jupiter Uranus on asc (which could be a repeat of Jup/Urans on asc natally if born round 7 a.m.) opposing Mars/Venus - having such a load of planets means surely he has to act - it seems entirely possible he may go. Natally his Pluto is the focal point of a kite and he has a grand water trine so is far more emotional than he appears to be.

He seemed to rediscover the taste for learning as not only has his acting career now taken off again in recent years, he is also currently enrolled in 4 (!)postgraduate programmes (two in creative writing, one in poetry and one in film making) Is there anything in his chart that explains this amazing drive and capacity? Louis Jourdan recently received in Los Angeles the decoration of Legion d’Honneur. His birthdate is given as varying between 19th June 1919 or 1921. Times of 8:08 am & 8:40 am Marseille were given by his co-workers way back, so not a definite. Wonder which year fits him more readily? He certainly had great sadness as companion to the glamour and bemoaned the lack of meaty roles which rarely were offered. His gift for languages could be a Sag energy? Any opinions as to which date might be the best fit for the life he actually lived? Must be many ideas out there to toss around. Dear Marjorie, I wondered if you would be so kind to look at the chart of the artist/illustrator Edith Holden, famous for her "Nature Notes" "The country diary of an Edwardian lady". Edith was an artist/illustrator who taught at Solihull college in 1906, she was born Kings Norton, Worcester on September 26th 1871 and died drowning in the Thames April 6th 1920. Although her diary written in 1906 was purely for her own personal use, the nature notes and illustrations were used for her students, it wasn't until 1977 when her grand niece found the notebook in a treasure chest in her attic in her home in Devon, she showed the book to a personal friend who happened to be a book publisher, it became the publishing sensation of the decade , eventually selling over 6 million copies worldwide showing us the beauty of times long ago. Could you please take a look at Ediths chart and what was going on in it when the book was published in 1977, the year the book was written in 1906 and her death 1920, . Was she destined to be famous? The time of the writing of the diary in 1906 , look at her personality and talent....does it tie in astrolgically with the big success it became?? Many thanks. Dear Marjorie, can you take a look at the new Baby Cameron's chart and compare it with Leo Blair born in 2000. They are the only two children born to prime ministers since 1849 so it's a fairly unique experience. Leo had a Sun/Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in Taurus while Baby Cameron has a Jupiter/Saturn opposition but in a quincunx/semi-sextile to her sun. What does that say. She has sun opp Neptune out of sign - what does that say about her father and what is happening to him?. And her two surviving siblings are both Aquarians, will this Virgo girl be a misfit in the family?

From: Maggy van Krimpen. (24 Aug 2010 17:16):
Jo, there's a theory that what you lack is attractive in others - some astrologers ay it is to "complete" you. Sounds good but in the end these people sit in different realities, that's all - think they could manage it with say Moons in good aspect or shared ascendants etc but believe me they will drive you INSANE as your nearest and dearest for the very reasons you loved them! My Moon is in Cancer too - but not 10th, that should work to your advantage professionally...?
|
From: Jo. (24 Aug 2010 14:25):
Maggy, have you ever found in your own experience that you attract types with strong earth elements due to your own lack of earth? I've only Neptune, Chiron & NNode in fire, and have found I tend to attract or be drawn to people who have strong fire elements in their chart. Back at school I hung out with 6 Leo's, which is a bit strange. I like the Fire types' extrovert and enthusiastic natures, which helps me to stop being so pragmatic and serious! Another pattern that I have noticed is, though no fire here, is some people in the public eye whom I like/admire almost always are either Sun Cancer/Pisces Moon or vice versa, occasionally different moons but Cancer is prevalent. I think that might have something to do with my own 10H Cancer Moon (although its in the last 10 degrees of the House).
|
From: Maggy van Krimpen. (24 Aug 2010 09:15):
Jo, I'll swap a few planets with you.....! I have no earth whatsoever and am very fiery. Many years ago while swotting for exams in a London class, a famous astrologer (now) told me I was "very earthy" simply because I had the Node in Taurus. I thought it was rubbish, but actually......people see me as "responsible" though not reliable (too much Uranus) - don't worry about no fire, it has its problems (like a lack of anything). I think having strong Merc/Jupiter gives curiosity, interest in another viewpoint/experience - so its all in the mind. Not smoking helps incredibly, good food and getting out there even when you don't want to makes the difference. Mercury and Jupiter are outward looking (extrovert) and therefore can forget themselves and look at the lighter, more ridiculous, side of life.

He is one of the Four Horsemen brothers in Atheism along with Hitchens, Richard Dawkins and Daniel Dennett born 28th March 1942, Boston USA, another Aries Sun opposite Neptune to add to the collection. How extraordinary if they are all the same flavour of the month! Sam looks like Ben Stiller so maybe Sag. instead. A.C. Grayling born 3rd April 1949, Luanshya, Zambia also has 5 point stellium in Aries with an exact Sun opposition Neptune at 13 + degrees. An atheist professor of philosophy, University of London and recently here for the atheist convention. He compares teaching of intelligent design alongside evolution to teaching " astrology " alongside astronomy. Richard Dawkins asks his brothers in Atheism the following : "One of the things we've all met is the accusation that we are strident or arrogant, or vitriolic, or shrill. What do we think about that?" Naivety is also a facet of the childlike Aries charm. Professor Dawkins also remarks that belief in Astrology is an impoverishing thing. My apologies to all sane Aries who visit this forum.

Thanks Maggy for the reply! Well I've got strong Mercury and Jupiter in my chart, so maybe that explains my looking young. The Mercury can be a bit of a pain, flitting from one interest to the next, soaking up enormous amount of facts then moving on, not always applying! My abundance of earth in Virgo does eventually get the job done, but in its own time; I'm like the tortoise in that fable with the hare, lol. Kathryn Bigelow is a brilliant example of someone who looks amazing for her age - I couldn't believe she's nearly 60! Johnny Depp is a Gemini and is virtually surgically attached to a cigarette and looks incredible for a guy in his late 40's. I think it would be a really interesting study. Also wanted to ask, as I lack Fire in my chart and have plenty of Earth - does anyone care to do a trade?, lol :)

Good question, Jo! You're on the right track with Mercury/Gemini/Virgo - all flexible, multi-curious and (not Virgo maybe) pranksters....I do eblieve Mercury is quite wicked and twisty - these people often have two names (or more) - nicknames for everyone/thing they make connections between their experiences which I think many of the earth signs don't. They too me (having no earth) are the kings and queens of reality and look their age. I think Sag/Jup is youthful too (tho often chunky in adulthood as anything they touch is overdone, food, booze, social life) but they philosophise and stay au courant....Merc/Gem/Vir is very plastic/elastic (often gymnasts/dancers too) but they tend to be lean naturally burning off all that mental energy.Capricorn is often staid and very crimplene in early life but they do lighten up and age suits them, they sort of don't age as hideously as some other signs. Capricorn seems to keep its sex life going far longer as well compared with many of the other signs and that makes a difference too. Fire signs rising tend to baldness (esp Aries and Leo) but are attractive anyway (bald men never believe that though) as they have plenty of verve but aren't skinny generally......Gem/Sag are the Peter Pans though and anyone with a strong Merc or Jup (in my view only) tends to stay young because of their perennial interests......

Hi Marjorie and folks :), I wanted to know your opinions on astrology and youthful/ageing appearance? What aspects/placements/signs lean towards a person looking younger or older than they really are? Does Mercury/Virgo/Gemini lean towards a youthful appearance whereas Fire signs on the ascendant can prematurely age? I'm a 1H Virgo Sun/Mars, Virgo Rising, Cancer Moon, Virgo conjunct Asc - I always looked my age till I hit my early twenties. I'm now almost 36 and I'm often mistaken for being 10-13yrs younger than I am. My brother is 8H Libra Sun, Cap Rising, Sag Moon, and although he is 8yrs younger than me he is often mistaken as being older and looking like 38-40yrs! He's only 27, but I put that down to burning the candle at both ends, lol! I've always found it fascinating that the likes of George Clooney always looks 10 yrs older than he really is and Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp (a chain smoker!), Diane Lane, Cyndi Lauper, etc look remarkably younger. I couldn't help thinking of them when I read Brad Pitt's recent comment about his eldest biological daughter with Angelina Jolie, Shiloh, that she wants to dress, act and be treated like a boy. I saw a recent pic of Shiloh, and she actually presents herself as a boy (pants, short hear, etc). Then we have the mother, Angelina, and the new unauthorized biography written by Andrew Morton, where Morton claims Angelina was abandoned by her mother between the age of 1 and 3 years old, when she was "reaccepted". This fits well with your analyze of Angelina's chart (bad mothering). However, Angelina herself puts all the blame on her father, and I never really understood her self loathing actions in her youth, at the same time praising her mother on every occation - I felt that something was not right. I think good mothering, especially with girls, will make them a lot more psychologically resilient than Angelina has shown to be in the past. My question: What is the relationship between Angelina and her daughter Shiloh? May Shiloh already show some disturbing signs of self loath or self denial? Are there similarities between Shiloh's chart and the other star daughters? I always thought of Shiloh as having inherited her father's strong psyche. On the other hand, I started doubting Angelina's mothering qualities three years ago, when she said (quote): "Shiloh seemed so privileged from the moment she was born, I have less inclination to feel for her (...) But, yes I'm conscious that I have to make sure I don't ignore her needs, just because I think the others are more vulnerable." To me, this sounds like abandonment. Would you like to look into this subject, Marjorie?

Hi Marjorie
If the opinion polls in Australia are correct, it would appear that although Tony Abbott has made an impact on the voting public, in the end, the upcoming election on 21st August will really come down to what candidate Australians dislike the least. Many Australians have turned against the Labor Gillard government due to the way it unceremoniously dumped the sitting PM Kevin Rudd, its profligacy in spending and it's poor policy implementation record. However, many people likewise find it hard to totally warm to Tony Abbott due to his "churchy", hard line image and the ghost of "workchoices" which he can't appear to shake off. Although it appears certain that Labor are going to loose seats, it looks like they will probably get back in to Government with a reduced majority. There are many undecided voters in this election and in the end I think that Gillard will form Government mainly because people find Tony Abbott unpalatable and "risky". Certainly, the appearance on the scene of ex Labor Leader Mark Latham who has re-invented himself as a 60 Minutes journalist has stirred the pot, making things difficult for both candidates. Like him or loathe him, at least Latham has provided some of us with some much needed comic relief in this otherwise dull election campaign with his "shoot from the hip" questioning and blunt assessment of candidates. It wouldn't surprise me in the end if we have a Gillard elected Government facing a hostile Senate for the next three years with a lot of legislation being blocked as a result and the Gillard Government feeling really stuck and frustrated. Although I do not believe that Tony Abbott will be dumped straight after the next election, I don't get the feeling that he will still be leader of the Liberal Party when the next election comes around in 2013. I feel that he and his party will come to the conclusion that although he gave it his best shot, the Libs really need a more likeable and/or impressionable leader for them to win the 2013 election. Although on the face of it, it would appear highly unlikely, I can't seem to shake this feeling that Peter Costello who "retired" from politics some time after the 2007 election defeat of the Liberal Government (to give the younger generation a go) may in fact stage a comeback and may contest the 2013 Federal election. By this time Australia's financial situation would be looking a lot bleaker. It would not surprise me if our Budget deficit (instead of being paid off as touted by the current Labor Party by 2013), is instead even larger. It also wouldn't surprise me if we are technically in recession by 2013. Although we managed to avoid technical recession after the GFC and appear to be in better shape financially than many countries, so much of our future growth is speculative and tied with China. Particularly considering the fact that we really don't have a domestic manufacturing industry to fall back on anymore. China only has to get a cold and we are in real trouble. Not only that but Australia's per capita personal debt levels are one of the highest in the world at the moment and are unsustainable in the long term. Peter Costello was an excellent financial manager as Treasurer of this country during the Howard Years. I just wonder if he may make a comeback in time for the 2013 election as a potential saviour for this country, to get us out of the mess that will be left by this inept Labor Government and harder financial times ahead which I feel Australians will be facing by 2013. What do you think? Of interest, quite a few voters in this upcoming election are voicing disgust at the way their union fees are being used by their respective unions to bolster Labor's election chances. Do you see the influence of unions in boosting the Labor Party in elections dwindling in the future due to a public backlash? Thanks so much for your insight Marjorie and sorry this email is rather long!

His name is Kyron Horman and he was born on September 9, 2002 in Portland, OR. Not sure of exact birth time. He is adorable and the outcome doesn't look good. Kyron's stepmother has not been officially named as a suspect but the media certainly has been receiving and giving information that she is a likely suspect. Her name is Terri Horman and her date of birth is March 14, 1970 (no birth time either) but she was born in Grass Valley, CA. Anyway, I tried to look up Kyron's chart and as I have shared with you several times, I can't read astrology charts but I do research the aspects and Kyron's chart looks like he has a lot of Pluto activity in it. Can you share any insights with Kyron's chart? Thanks in advance. Gina

Starstruck - Pluto hitting Venus tends to be quite intense, brings up jealousy, possessiveness, issues you hadn't considered before emotionally. But it is complicated this time round since it also has tr Saturn in aspect as well and tr Uranus following along behind. So impossible to take it in isolation. Pluto on Venus on its own can just bring a very strong fascination/attachment kind of relationship. It also depends where your Venus falls. You need to see the broad picture. Frankly death is the last thing that would really come to my mind about Pluto Venus.

Starstruck, it could be Saturn is also in the mix making a square to your Venus. But then Uranus and Jupiter also squaring your Venus. Pluto will be the longest lasting. If you have a non-existent love life now, it is your choice and actions doing it. But when Saturn leaves an exact aspect to your Venus look out. The destruction is likely internal, some sort of repression. Unless you are drawn to bad boys, then you could find one that is a violent criminal. So you just have to use common sense. You may find some kind of artistic types since Venus is involved. But don't engage in the foolishness of finding your soul mate. you may find several soul mates. Pluto uproots something negative.

SUBJECT: Tr Pluto Conjunct Natal Venus = Death?
Hi Marjorie,
I was talking to a friend of mine about Pluto conjuncting my Natal Venus in my 1st house for the next 18 months, and she told me, amongst other things, that while my love life is likely to become intense (at this moment it's virtually non-existent), there's some destruction just over the horizon as this aspect signifies death and departure?!?
What's to expect from Pluto-Venus? I'm not sure what to make of what she said. This is obviously my first time living through something like this...

Marjorie- the man with the iron mask- apparently he did exist. Was he the twin brother of Louis the 14th of France- the sun king? He was imprisoned in a secret french jail and was taken care of like a prince til his death of natural causes many years later. Louis the 14th's mother was Anne of Austria and Louis the 13th could not stand the sight of women, so who knows who Louis the 14th's father was. I don't know if you can tell about these things with astrology? Thanks, Cecilia

A Yod in a Solar Return may be not that important unless it involves the Sun. But in any event what is does is not necessarily catastrophic. It just produces strain until you get the focal point pushed into gear which is to do with balancing the sextile end - and then it could bring improvements.

Gill, Oddly enough a Fixed Venus on the point of a T square can be tricky - demanding, unyielding, possessive. Plus Moon in Taurus is no push over. Plus Pluto in the 5th can be demanding in a different way. And Saturn in Aries especially square the Sun isn;t always sympatico. So can see your problem. Neptune of course almost into the 7th is evasive, uncommitted in relationships at work and elsewhere. No idea how you cope. Pinning Neptune down is like trying to nail jelly to a wall. Good luck.

Hi Melanie, Tr. Progressed Sun to Chiron in Taurus 9th.
This surely must bring you an opportunity to open out and reach beyond the limitations of past over-compensation. Chiron in any sign is where we try too hard to cover up our limitations, because they embarrass us sorely.
Melanie , you know the aspects to your Chiron, I don’t, so figure out where the bandages are too thickly layered and need peeling or exposure. Chiron in 9th is finding an appropriate philosophy or faith in your highest aspirations for opening up to the spirit of the “Natural” which earthy Taurus craves. I am with Donna Cunningham and her take on Taurus using “Earth” rulership as well as Venus for Taurus archetype. You could look it up. You are living in the right country at the right moment to learn “ the art of loving the Nature of the Land you live in which will heal you through your appreciation of all it offers and asks of you ”.
Taurus/Scorpio opposites are embodied in your Chiron. Values of respect and loyalty (Taurus) rightly placed, engender deep compassion for yourself and others from (Scorpio) not necessarily betrayal. Taurus builds inner security on lessons learned from the woundedness of repeated trust and betrayal experiences. Just my take on this energy.

Your write ups on the Bamber murder and Amanda Knox....why is it that these people - though convicted - are still treated as though inustice has been done? Is it just that in these times if you harp on long enough about miscarriage of justice you can make the crime evaporate? It seems so abundantly clear that Knox in particular, after a thorough trial, is guilty....and yet these people carry on as though THEY are the victims...I remember the Bamber trial; Jeremy andhis sister were both adopted and the mother (one of his victims) left a poignant note in a drawer saying no matter what happened to her, how adopting the two kids had made her life complete....and then. .....

From: Elaine. (08 Jul 2010 10:29):
Main UK news is concentrated on the gunman at large Raoul Moat. Reported to have been born in 1973, whose generation have a Saturn/Pluto square in early Cardinal signs. Naturally he is feeling the effects of the current Cosmic cross but in an extreme manner. Transiting Pluto in Capricorn would square his natal Pluto/Libra and oppose his Saturn/Cancer - very challenging, forcing him to give up things he no longer has control over, massive pressure to change himself or suffer the consequences, the need to release the past and evolve, inner turmoil with the risk of a massive emotional explosion. Could see a rash of news cases involving this generation, do you think?
|
From: Elaine. (08 Jul 2010 10:07):
The major news story in the UK is of course Raoul Moat, gunman at large, who is wanted for the suspected killing of his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend and a policeman, as well as critically shooting his ex. Reports say he was born 1973 which throws up an interesting potential chart. With the approaching Grand Cardinal Cross, it came as no surprise to find 1973 charts had a strong Saturn/Pluto square in cardinal early degrees so fully activated by current transits. Pluto squaring natal Pluto and opp natal Saturn would emphasise energies difficult to control amidst power struggles (him v police) set against major changes in his life. It doesn't look like a happy ending. Without a proper date we can only speculate about his inner motivation and underlying character. I suspect this whole episode will come to a dramatic and tragic climax by the time of the eclipse on Sunday.

Hi everyone, do major health problems show up in charts? I ask because Cheryl Cole (30 Jun 83',8.38pm, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne,UK) has been rushed to hospital with severe Malaria, and there is concern in some of the forums because it was almost an entire day before it was diagnosed, which could contribute to organ failure? She trecked Kilimanjaro in 2009 to raise awareness of Malaria; then went to Tanzania a few weeks ago as I surprise holiday with her dancer friend, Derek Hough, who apparently only told her about the destination when she was at the airport - I'm assuming no time to get vaccinations, then? The documentary focused on the overall peacefulness of the community and the desire of practioners to assist in healing others. 3 different visitors who had lost loved ones participated in the documentary while they sought healing and answers. Could you share your astrological insights about the Lily Dale Community? I would interested in your opinion about the validity of this community. Can some earthly destinations actually be more peaceful in spirit that other places? Obviously there is war and poverty and violence but can a place be more spritually sacred than others? Australia's New Prime Minister: looking at the progressed chart for australia, it is interesting to see that the progressed sun is about to enter taurus in august - when the next federal election is expected. the progressed moon is already in taurus. perhaps this signifies an energy change from what has been, and still is, a very male culture towards a more female culture. i do hope so. on julia gillard, i am disgusted and angry at the way she took power by knifing the elected prime minister in the back even before his first term was over. she is the pawn of three big multinational mining companies who have spent millions (tax deductable too) on a dishonest tv advertising campaign to blackmail the australian government on a mining tax. julia gillard has now backed down and agreed to the miner's demands of far less tax for ripping out australian-owned minerals, only coal and iron ore will be taxed, and selling them overseas. although i'm glad that at last we have a female p.m., i deplore the way she was put into this position by a bunch of wealthy white men. i can already see signs of thatcher, who also has a libra sun, in this disappointing woman.

Just a note on your post about the astrology of the LibDems - I seem to remember you stating a cuple of month ago that one of their charts [I think the original Liberal 1877 one] looked massively upbeat around 2012. But your recent analysis shows that the 1988 chart looks in bad shape around that time. I was wondering if this could mean that the LibDems split in two in the near future and revert to being two parties: the Liberals and the Social Democrats.
If this is the case, might it be worth looking into the chart of the Social Democrat Party [SDP] which broke off from the Labour party in the late 70s/early 80s and merged with the Liberals in 1988? If they go their own way again then I wonder if one could use the original SDP chart. It would be interesting to see the outcome of this as the 1988 chart seems to be heading for heavy seas in the next few years as you pointed out.
Thanks

Dear Marjorie Could I ask you to take another look at India's charts and upcoming transits with a view to medium and longer term prospects in light of the unfolding global economic pandemomium and the new order that may emerge mid late this decade?
Over recent years India has posted quite impressive growth figures admitedly coming off a low base but flowing mostly from the industrial and services sectors with consequent unequal distribution of benefits. By comparison the output performance of agriculture, far and away the biggest employer of people and resources, remains weak or bleak depending on viewpoint with litle sign of movement in official thinking appaently stuck in old 'five year plan' mode of thinking obsessed with an inputs oriented model, ie: if we give you better seeds, more fertiliser, tractors and irrigation then you will produce more! Nowadays all that seems to happen is farmers taking on greater debts and ultimately unmanageable risks and ending up taking their own lives in horrifying numbers when things go wrong.
The economy now appears beset with rampant inflation particularly in food commodites (16% last month) which is feeding back into wage demands and higher prices and threatening to become a structural issue. Rather than resulting from excess demand this inflation seems to be caused by supply constraints not just resulting from poor monsoon rains or floods.
The weakness of agriculture in hardly surprising since the sector predominantly remains in a feudal time warp where producers are denied equitable access to transparent market mechanisma mainly through the weight of custom and the vast predatory traditional caste-based middle man community that hangs over the farm produce trading scene scene like a cloud of vultures. Government commodity purchasing agencies are little better and through their power also tilt the playing field against the producer offering no respite to the mythically lauded and garlanded yet exploited and under-rewarded farmers.
Apart from a politically unacceptable corporate take-over of farming, the best course might be corporate partnerships that clear market space and help organise producer groups to participate in down-stream value chains and on/off farm capital building as is the norm in more developed economies.
However there is a mighty battle raging with gret resistance to change particularly if it threatens to upset ancient communal power structures, traditional pecking orders and cosy oligopolies. Such is the state of dysfunction!
The same is true with mounting veherment resistance to outrageous social innovations where young couples attempt to marry outside of traditional caste sanction, communal norms, parental design (and of course a return on investment in raising girls in the form of dowry loot), often with tragic results.
Meanwhile despite some advances and innovations Government at all levels remains crippled by lack of transparency, corrupt linkages between polititians bureaucrats and business, and constrained to populism by the pressures of caste and what is known as communal vote banks.
What does the cosmos have to say?

Very well spotted, Nicola’s Sag. Moon is also conj. (Nth Node 25 Sag 25) on Australian Settlement chart for 26th Jan 1788 NS, 5:23 am Sydney. Double whammy! There is a 6 point Sag. stellium connecting her Moon on the Federation chart 1st Jan 1901 for 1:35:42 am Sydney. Nicola’s Grandfather faced forced deportation and racial discrimination in Europe, over and over in early 1900s onward. The “ Dark Filly” means female dark horse, *In the running for the race*. Aust. vernacular racing terminology overwhelms the stolid Capricorn Sun Saturn but this placement is in a Jupiterian 9th House. Imported old establishment ran this country for many long years. The last vestiges are being dug up by the current transit of Pluto moving back & forth over several years. It will be very challenging and outcomes could be most surprising.
Outsider opinion is always an excellent sounding board. Thank you again for your input. Sending warmth of Aust. Sunshine from Rebecca’s birth place to all who gather here. It is a privileged forum for such quality interaction to occur and it is appreciated, never taken for granted. Bye for now.

Sol, I have never looked at Australia's chart before and am shocked to find it is Sun/Sat. conjunction in Capricorn! whew! there I am thinking it was a Sag place.....why? Marjorie did mention Kevin Rudd would have a rough ride in this period with tr. Sat conj. Mars/Sun & tr Ur opposing them, she she it could go either way, but pehaps the Uranus gave the shock result....
I looked for the chart to find the connection between NR and Australia - and bingo! Your country's Jupiter is at 26 Sag - her Moon MUST be conjunct and, from your description, actually in Sag rather than Cap. It did throw me though that Sun/Sat in Cap (how strong is that for a Cap Moon argument?) but what is even more telling, is her nickname - the Dark Filly - which I still don't know what is meant by...however, Jupiter is the sport of kings, so the nickname has a sort of Scorp/Sag feel about it - strange how people's nicknames pick out very significant character traits - for me, this name nailed me firmly to the Sag mast.
You mentioned the 24 deg.31 - how I was taught is that anything over 30 is rounded up (to 25 in this instance) and down if it was under 30 mins. I only chose 1 July as it was the half way point of the year but the Node with the pr. Moon actually conj. and tr. ur opposite (esp the signs) seem very apt - the suddenness, and the throat cancer....
Her daughter (how can you fail in life if you're BORN in a place called Sunshine - do they have a higher birth rate than the rest of the whole of Oz?) - is low in earth/water, the mother's strong elements so I'd assume her dad is more earthy. Her Sun/Venus in Aries shows she loves her dad madly esp with the sextile to Mars etc - mutable Moon shows she experiences her mother as a mutable type, another argument for Sag?
With Merc conj Jupiter in the country's chart, and the powerfully benevolent Jupiter in NR's, I do think she has such affinity and ease of passage in your land that she is bound to be a remarkable politician.
A few years ago in the Hague I listened to an incredible Australian plastic surgeon (to my shame I can't remember her name off hand as I've had a 2.5 hr session with Le Dentist today) who was English by birth and emigrated to Perth and developed some skin grafting techniques way ahead of their time which she used to huge effect after the Bali bombings. She was named as one of Australians top 100 citizens, and was an absolute inspirational speaker....my point is, Australia has embraced multi-cultural emigration (with all its highs and lows) and I remain shocked that it is a Sun/Sat Cap chart - that's so 19th century!

Victoria: Much appreciate your thoughtful response. Your reference to free will reminded me of an intriguing observation I recently came across. According to acclaimed astronomer Bob Berman, "There is no such thing as free will. It's more like an 'unfolding,' like watching a play, that happens to perfection, and which requires no conscious effort, only awareness, enjoyment and, perhaps, appreciation." Berman continues: "Just as the heart and liver work by themselves without the need for our interference or action, the brain does, too. Decisions happen by themselves, and researchers last year showed that our decisions occur up to 10 seconds before we are even aware of them. A bit later we might think, "I decided that.'" Interesting stuff, eh? I'm inclined to agree with Berman. In fact, I think our lives are scripted before we get here, right down to the choices we make in specific situations. Astrology virtually shows us the script. What happens happens....nothing you can do about it except experience it and learn from it. Anyway, that's my two-cents worth. Would love to hear Marjorie's thoughts on free will, along with those of Maggy, James, et al. Thanks!

Ah well said Julie! Yes indeed everything in life does have it's positive and negative side which was the discussion I was trying to elicit when I first asked my question. I have seen the moon square Saturn aspect mentioned in relation to mother daughter relationships a few times on this site and naturally being aware of this aspect in my daughters horoscope I now have a slight paranoia about it in relation to her (she is only two). I am fascinated by astrology and have been for over 10 years. I am a great believer that it gives you an indication to the road map of your soul and then by your free will you can make the best or the worst of it. At least if you have some insight to what you are dealing with you are 10 steps ahead of someone who has no clue! So keep up the good work everyone. I thoroughly enjoy eaves-dropping on yours discussions and please humour me if I have a question about one specific aspect, I realise that it is part of a much bigger picture, but thoroughly understanding each piece of the puzzle (especially when you can't be objective) is a fantastic learning experience!

Marjorie: Interesting comments re Moon square Saturn in the 10th. I lucked out in the Mom category: Jupiter in the 10th trine Venus (yes, I can be syrupy sweet, but that's another story). The irony is that I took my wonderful mother so for granted and now suffer much guilt over the many lost opportunities to show my appreciation and love. Way too immature was I (blame it on an overdose of Aries) to recognize the gift that I had. I always assumed that everyone had a wonderful mother. NOT! She was a lovely, utterly selfless Virgo. Service to others, especially to her family, was top priority. When you lose a mother like her, the grief can be unbearable. Goes to show that even beautiful aspects can (ultimately) have a negative side.

One is never absolutely sure which chart to use when it comes to both the US and Russia, but I did notice that the composite US Sibly chart and the 1917 Russian chart has transiting Neptune opposite a Venus Neptune Mercury conjunction which suggests rather dishonest behaviour from one side on the other to me. Transiting Uranus is almost exactly inconjunct the composite Sun and trine the composite Midheaven - is this the trigger that made the scandal come out into the open? Your wise words on this subject would as ever be appreciated...

James does contribute very constructively here. I think he was upset since someone said they only wanted to read my posts, which however flattering, wasn't helpful since other contributions are not only valuable, they are essential. The point I think he was making about negativity was that all of us astrologers, and I used to be as prone as any, tend to home in on the downside of aspects. I was thinking further about Moon square Saturn in 10th and had meant to say that Saturn really does blossom in the second half of life. With all the fruits of Saturn's disciplined, dutiful approach to life bearing fruit. We'd all adore to have had all-nurturing yummy mummies who did it all for us - but frankly it isn't a recipe for a fulfilling later life, quite the contrary. Saturn teaches you to cope with reality. So life ain't perfect, get on with it.

Victoria, Just a few general thoughts. Gemini Moons are scattered, restless and not hugely emotional. This may make her Saturn square easier to handle in certain ways since it also damps down feelings. Saturn in relation to mother, and she's got a double dose of it - Saturn in 10th and squ Moon - suggests not enough indulgence and unconditional acceptance from mother. Saturn either brings the "I must achieve to be loved" or it brings guilt vis a vis mother - "I'm there to look after her". Sometimes it is just a fact of the circumstances of early life - mother had to go out to work or had other burdens so wasn't available enough. And sometimes it is just a chemistry thing. She brings out the Saturnine side of you and we all have it. For whatever reason it was difficult for you to be warm towards her and it may be she blocks you in some way. But is certainly an issue both of you need to work on, separately and perhaps together if there is an opening for dialogue.

Sol, I have an unexpected hour or so free because sheepdog training was off due to the heat (30 plus) in Holland....so I took at look at this chart. Nice balance of planets, between elements and quadruplicities. I always loathe no birth time but put up one for 6 a.m. as a starter to get her Sun angular (as is tradition) on the ascendant. What stands out to me is the Jupiter (exalted) in Cancer, very nicely aspecting the Pluto/Uranus, sextiling the Neptune and square Mars. We do have the annoying Moon hovering between Sag and Cap - drives me insane! I do come down on the side of Sag here - I looked up Sakoian & Acker on this (The Zodiac within each sign) - an excellent help in fine-tuning every 2.5 degrees of the zodiac. Between 25 + 27.5 Sag is associated with the legal profession in particular making them "convincing and foreceful attorneys". 27.5-30 (no such thing actually, 29 +) is to do with the reform and improvement of educational, legal institutions often playing the role of muckraker in exposing corruption and inefficiency in those areas. The 2.5 to 5 Cap (of course Capricorn is THE political animal of the Zodiac) have strong interest in professional groups and organisations working in groups and achieving cooperatively with others on worthwhile goals" .......would like to hear more about what side you or intereested others come down on. The Sun/Moon is pivotal in any chart of course. Her Moon probably squares Saturn from one or the other side and possibly Pluto Uranus, the relationship to the mother was probably not as close or easy as to the father. The Sun Saturn conjunction is often a sign of a first born but responsibility she certainly takes on....WHY IS SHE CALLED THE DARK FILLY?
iT IS HELPFUL THAT THE PARENTS'PROFESSIONS WERE MENTIONED. pHARMACIST/MICROBIOLOGIST...COULD BE A BIG 6TH/12TH EMPHASIS OR PERHAPS sCORPIO (FOR CHEMISTS) ON THE mc/ic. Oops sorry about capitals. I put up a chart for 2.10pm Sydney to get Scorp/Taurus on the angles. This put her Venus in Taurus conjunct Node on MC and Scorpio on the IC. We don't have the date of her father's death in 1977 but tr. Uranus was exactly oposite her Node around 1.7.77 and about to transit the 4th house (did the family move etc) - in July her progressed Moon conjuncted the Node as well. Of course it could be 12 hrs earlier the birth, this is JUST A STAB IN THE DARK.
Transit Ur & Sat are good on angles as they denote events which are manifested visibly. The Mercury in Pisces (sometimes a very flaky influence), is strengthened by opp to Pluto/Uranus and sextile to Venus. The chart lacks a bit of flexibility which this Mercury adds, plus a good feeling for people....perhaps she thinks radically, it is always a sign of a healthy society when immigrants rise - they have another perspective and vision and are allowed to realise it.
What is her reputation? the Cap Moon would make her tough, and unable to compromise but looking at her photo she seems far less "set"than Mmme Gillard . She looks to have humour (what? a politician!)
Sol : to settle the time thingy, how about looking back to see what happened when Pluto conjuncted her Moon - were there divorces amongst her sisters, did a female relative die etc, or have cancer... If you get that date you may well get closer to the birth time. I do not have my ephemeris at hand but that transit will surely point us towards an accurate time.

James is right, Victoria - I think people would like to help but it is deeply personal and too visible for comfort. That is why Marjorie demonstrates, if you like, with famous charts so we can pick out the similarities. As well, you can't take one or two aspects of a chart - you MUST see the whole thing in context. If your daughter has only one hard aspect, that means the rest are soft. So this one aspect may be doing a good job of giving some balance in the chart despite the fact that Moon/Saturn has its clear difficulties. If you check out the astrodatabank.com website, they do have a forum on which you could post your question and have many comments.

Hi everyone, I've just been Writing a Blog on Julia Gillard, and I have found it to be quite sensational that a Female Immigrant, could rise to the highest position in the Land. It's a Country where Male sexist attitudes, can be more entrenched than the surrounding Rocks.
Just as it looked like it couldn't get any better with Obama being Elected President. It does become a a lot more riveting.
Down Under, you've got a Un-Married Childless Professional Woman, shacked up with a Hair Stylist, and it looked like she didn't have to laude her Religious credentials to get into the top Job.
Some will criticise her for not being a real Aussie, but they are a Land of Mutts themselves. A Heinz 57 variety.
The Australian Actor Bryan Brown was asked Year's ago in an Interview, about his English Rachel Ward, being related to the Earl of Dudley. To which he replied, "it's about time that Family had some Convict blood in it".

The squaring of the Circle or Cardinal Grand Cross in an astrological Mandala with the shadow from a Full Moon Eclipse falling across it, is pure alchemical symbolism. In alchemy the cross symbolises the sacrifice of the individual ego, with the necessary pain of psychological, emotional death into darkness and withdrawal from the outer for contemplation. Then the journey to wholeness may continue which will eventually bring a Cardinal movement forward.
What has just been enacted in full view in this country Australia has deeply impacted the population. A projection enacted through a Capricorn Political major event. Who are we and what will we need to become as part of a planetary renewal ? There is no shame in playing the role of sacrificial man. Kevin Rudd has been an instrument towards all our eventual delivery and Julia has the task to represent the strong feminine principle to complete the quaternity. What do we individually need to sacrifice in our own lives to move on? That is the question I consider today, requiring my deepest contemplation.
The growing stillness of the native bushland I can see through my window as I write and the quieting of the birdsong and native animals is tangible as this strange eclipse is processing us in time. The native elder shamans will be *singing* us through the day, so everything will be A.O.K. Melanie. Thanks to everyone who has joined the discussion over the past few days. Personally it’s good to know you are all there, living and breathing in the astrological world as heartfelt companions. Aussies are usually A.O.K., James, glad you have discovered us.

As James outlined, the Grad Cosmic Cross (heavies & importantly, as they are timers, the Sun and Moon, are all configured in a tight consecutive 90 deg. angle setup. Sun Cancer opp Moon Capricorn (conj. Pluto) are at the heart of the grand cross. I have no experience of this personally but taking the basics Sun Cancer against Moon Capricorn with Pluto next to it, I would guess that the Capricorn bit is government/regulations/esp in regard to politics and bureaucracy would be igh focus - against the Sun in Cancer - Moon Pluto in Capricorn is government I feel, against the Sun Cancer (with Mercury too) - Mercury Pluto to my mind is media - is the media about to expose some huge governmental coverup (for instance) or is there some kind of polarisation at the heart of this? All the outer planets are tied in to this et up which makes it extraordinary, but HOW it manifests is not clear - there will be people with more expertise/knowledge here but with earth/water as the main focus it could be geological, or geopolitical (with Pluto configured so closely) - countries which spring to mind are Scotland, New Zealand, Holland (Cancerian) against Pluto in Capricorn (England 1066 chart, conjunct the country's Sun)...so shakeups of some magnitude might be anticipated in these places.
We can perhaps get too hung up on signs as well and should look at elements - Cancer/Capricorn = water/earth so some extreme situations regarding either/or can arise in the coming months. Capricorn is ALWAYS political, Cancer too is hardly left wing (the desire to protect and sustain) so right wing parties/ideaolog will perhaps dominate. After the profligacy and luck of Pluto in Sag, the "down to earth"bit comes now when we're presented with the bill.
Marjorie - come back! we need you! HELP!

melanie - just to finish off - the grand square involves at least 4 planets at right angles to one another - making a grand square - when looking at an astro chart..

From: james. (25 Jun 2010 17:57):
melanie - it is a grand square in the cardinal signs for the most part... this overall configuration will mostly impact anyone with an important point - sun or moon or ascendant - in early cardinal - that is aries, cancer, libra or capricorn... it will also impact to a certain extent those with these same important points in late mutable signs - gemini, virgo, sag, and pisces... kevin rudd birthdate is sept 21 1957 nambour australia - 6:17:37am is a rectified time for him from a well known australian astrologer...
the australian people seem like an amazing group of people! one thing for sure - very many of them are into astrology and take it very seriously which is refreshing... nice to see such a strong interest from so many in this country..
back to kevin rudd - he has 6 cancer midheaven right opposite pluto transit and right where this solar eclipse is... he has been eclipsed!! his sun/mars conj has basically gone over the saturn coals of late and his power has been hijacked in the course of it. it is a fascinating transition that has happened within the party they both belong to and i need to understand more, the political framework to allow this to happen..
an eclipse was always considered an important event on the astrologers calendar. it is essentially a new moon, or a full moon that lands on the nodal axis of the moon making it the most powerful of the new or full moons.. it happens once or twice a year but this one happens to coincide with where some of the outer planets are which make it more dramatic.. it will effect everyone differently.. in the case of marjorie it lands on her neptune/venus/mars conj and she has been out of action here at an interesting time.. i trust she is doing okay, but it is interesting timing! of course i like this format much more then the one she has going now as interchange is allowed to happen again.. i believe she is still working out the best way to go with this, but this is just my impression and not something she has said directly..

Good sleuthing Elaine.......the comparisons with MT & Jodie Foster - what do they have in common? Scorpio - so it may be she has Scorpio rising so we could all test that out. Will have time tonight perhaps to twiddle some times (I thought around 11.30 a.m.as a starting point). I expected to find Uranus in the 4th (which almost always means a transfer to another place, was trying to get a big transit to her 4th house (or its ruler). I have read on Wiki that the family emigrated when she was 6, and on other sites, she was 4.) Uranus being hooked up to her Pluto Venus as well, and ending near the top of the chart in mid-Scorpio, would show her union links and tough reputation.
The Moon was definitely in Taurus though. At midnight it was at 7 deg 18 mins and by midnight following, 20 degrees...

Hi everyone, I have noticed with Gillard, Cameron, and even Obama, that as members of the Pluto in Virgo Generation, they may very well end up fighting by the skin of their Teeth, when it come's to another Election. Obama won an outright majority, but the signs now look like he may be a One Term President only.
Even with with Gillard and Cameron, they are going to face an ever increasing restlessness emerging from the People. With Jupiter and Uranus in Aries, many are not going to be quiet about what they think and feel. During this time period, we could see the death of Political Correctness, and be forced to be more open and frank than many have cared to in recent times.
So Gillard and Cameron maybe the new Kids on the Block, but Political Power with Today's problem's, can be like walking into Quick Sand.

getting back to the Aussie PM. Looking at a photo of her - and the red hair (definitely a Mars influence) - her features reminded me of two ladies. The hooded eyes similar to Margaret Thatcher (Sun Libra, Mars in Libra, Scorpio Asc) and Jodie Foster (Sun Scorpio, Moon in Virgo). This certainly seems to back up the Venus/Pluto Virgo domination of her chart. A time of birth would seal it.

No birth time as yet. Great, Maggy and others, excellent interesting Julia astro comments, please keep it going. It will be volatile here for quite some time. The country is looking for a vastly new direction and * the game is on * as Julia informed us yesterday.
Julia has the killer instinct of the â€60s Pluto Venus Uranus manipulative combinations. In interviews, admits she knows how to roll the dice in the political numbers game. Gemini Moon, please Maggy, the shadow game of Jekyll and Hyde was pulled for yesterday’s coup. Kevin looks distraught as the sacrificial goat and alchemical fall guy. Taurus Moon has issues of loyalty to which Julia pays lip service only. She has been with her partner since 2004 on and off. No long term relationships for this Gemini Moon.
It is Aussie ridicule that taunts her * the Hairdresser’s Husband * knowing she is not married, desires no children and her partner has a somewhat lurid past. Watch the film I quoted in the previous post and then you will understand. The evolution of Julia Gillard’s hair has been an ongoing treat.
Elaine, your Venus Pluto interp. as a masquerade is dramatically appropriate but she is very clever with the Gemini Moon and you need to watch your back. Kevin Rudd became distracted and will need intensive care for recovery. It is a deadly plutonic game right now. The Grand Cross and the Eclipse are working themselves through the players on centre stage
As an Australian living close to the daily political machinations, I suggest you often need a pinch of salt regard for foreign press reports in U.K, European or other. The irreverent cut and thrust of the political game here, very Aries, with loads of Sag. shooting arrows and deflecting them is a daily party game in politics, rarely understood well or interpreted knowingly by those not here on the ground. Just the way it goes.

Elaine, sorry that remark about Australia was meant for Melanie, not for you - I guessed you were English, just a typo....good points from you and James, I doubt if she has a Gemini Moon though James, she's been with her partner for 30 years (a Gemini would have crashed through quite a few emotionally speaking)I reckon. Elaine's remark about Sun trine that Jup/Saturn and her father was spot on as well, a Libra female is always father dominated (all masculine signs are, as a Leo I was always a father's child and my mother figured very little in the scheme of things, but it was not so for my other siblings....) Well said that she's a tough cookie (look at that mouth - very snappy) I always think Libra women have an iron hand in a velvet glove (esp in aspect with Pluto) whereas the men are quite foppish, sailing round in cashmere coats and floaty scarves, chin at a jaunty angle - I didn't see the cardinal cross, Elaine - ugh! Yes its no easy ride the first few months. Venus Pluto is always subtle, you know you're being manipulated, charmingly, I've done several charts for people with this combination and they invariably end up getting more from you (timewise esp) than what you planned despite the fact you know ahead of time there will be wheeling and dealing. I do think they realise the value/power of looking good, in the end we are all shallow and fall for the well cut clothes and the soft voice perhaps? Bet she does not drink beer out of a can!!!!

Maggy, I am English and live in the UK.
I had a look at this new female Aussie PM. The aspect that particularly interested me was Venus/Pluto in Virgo. A very sexy intense and powerful woman masquerading outwardly as a prim and proper highly self-controlled critical nitpicker. She will not be an easy person to work for. Pluto in Virgo likes a challenging work environment and wants to make radical changes. This could well give her extreme political views - rights of the worker and all that.
Mars in Libra squaring that Jupiter/Saturn in Capricorn also suggests a woman who knows exactly what she wants out of life and will do whatever she needs to do to fulfil her quite substantial ambitions. Her Sun is trine Jupiter/Saturn hinting that her father may have initially pushed her to improve and succeed in life. Capricorn would make politics in particular attractive to her as a means of improving her status.
Her Sun in Libra is at 6 degrees so she will feel the full force of the upcoming Cosmic Cross. Her tenure as PM will certainly find itself beset with problems but she is a tough cookie and she may even thrive on confrontation.

Sol/Elaine - are either of you Australian? I fear I have no knowledge of Oz politics whatsoever, except in a very general way. All I can say is that in times of crisis, people usually move further to the right....I have no idea how that would apply to Australian politics however. The new prime minister is a Sun Libra/Moon Taurus - a peaceful combination, both being Venus ruled, so I would expect her to be quite well known for her middle way/tact/femininity esp. Venus in Libra sounds very lovely but Venus is often found int he charts of war leaders, generals - it is the exercise in establishing peace, not necessarily by peaceful means. She is mostly air/earth, and short on fire and water. Esp with the Sun/Moon combo I would expect someone pragmatic above all and reasonable as well as personable.
I consider the planet rising in front of the Sun (having tested Sakoian & Acker's theory and finding it shockingly pertinent) the vocational indicator. Pluto is her voc. ind, so immediately you can see a stronger than normal will to power. The Pluto conjuncts her Venus (also Sun ruler) so it is a very focused and directed person - Pluto does not muck about or attempt to be frilly but cuts right to the chase. As well as conjuncting Venus it triens her Moon inTaurus so I'd expect her femininity to be high focus in her job (lets face it: if she had the brains to marry a hairdresser - thus ensuring for life A Good Hair Day, she is a total female!).
Mercury here is heavily aspected to Mars Jupiter Sat, Ur, and in the very last degree of Libra, anyone who makes their mark usually has this planet high focus, even in difficult aspect its better than low/frustrated aspects.
Australia as a country is ruled by Jupiter - sun, opportunity, prosperity etc (it shares tis with Spain which is in trouble at the moment). Her Jupiter conjuncts Saturn in Capricorn (I feel Saturn is stronger here since its in its own sign) but would expect her to be very hot on business and all aspects of it especially. Her Mars at the end of Libra squares these two planets so conflicts over international busiess and/or regulations could be high profile. This feels quite a "right wing"aspect to me as Libra/Cap is an upwardly mobile, dead practical combination in dealing with the world.
Her Moon in Taurus almost exactly opposes Neptune in Scorpio which, to me, adds more femininity and refinement, though we would ahve to see how progs and transits pan out. How frustrating - always - not to have any clue of the birth time - I thought Virgo instinctively when I saw a photo, she has something "neat"about her which I associate with that sign - but of course - so what? I am way out probably.
She won't find it easy in the first months with transit Saturn hitting her Sun in July and tr. Pluto squaring the Sun in August (Saturn is also opp. Uranus which adds a wild card, or sudden emergency in which she has to take control). I do think if she gets past the first few months and establishes herself she could do very well but I'd expect those heavy August transits to bring a re-shuffle or an elimination of her cabinet - the row (whatever it was about) does not seem to stop just because she has been chosen. She certainly has copious charm and persuasion but it is nice to see the edgy Mars squaring Jupiter/Saturn - she is a risk taker (Charles Carter always called a hard Mars/Jup aspect the riskiest of the lot, which is surprising) - my personal feeling is that she is slightly left of M. Thatcher, Dame of the British Empire as I do find the chart leaning so heavily right - but there you go, its only an opinion and I'd lvoe to hear yours.

Maggy, I have no formal qualifications in astrology and am self-taught since my initial interest at the age of 13. I think a thorough knowledge of the effects and influence of individual planets is the key to understanding synastry, analysis and forecasting. I never found astrology books easy to get hold of nor had the resources to buy them so I learnt through studying the charts of practically everyone I came into contact with. I held them on file and watched what happened to them over the years. However some of my forecasts were too accurate for comfort and I put astrology aside for many years until I felt able to deal with it again.

The Public Announcement is Tr. Moon 2 Sag 56’ trine Jupiter Uranus 0-2 Aries, hooked into grand cross with Sun Saturn Pluto of the day. The feminine in fiery resonance with the Fed Chart of Jan 1st 1901 for exactly 1:35:42 pm SYDNEY ( koch houses), time and place as evidenced on a myriad of Aust. Tr. Moon conj Natal Nth Node 1Sag.18’, Tr Moon trine I.C. 2 Leo 56’, Tr. Moon sextiles M.C. 2 Aquarius 56’. A new philosphical push at home and abroad. Timing is all. An Eclipse of major proportions has landed on Kevin ’07 not ordained to be Kevin ’11. Pre- eclipse blues with Solar Arc Saturn square Natal Neptune, Solar Arc. Jupiter square Natal Pluto in 8th, Solar Arc Uranus nudging by 2 degrees M.C. Libra, if birth time is O.K.
Endless transits and progs. to end his Mars Sun Virgo, 9th house, determined concern for Aussies, native born or refugees from conflict across this planet. He dared to hold back on climate change carbon tax impositions, so the Greenies punished him and Corporate Mining lives to breathe and rape landscape, coffers and the people because he dared to stand up to them. Coup d’etat from trade union bosses to whom Julia will owe all shows a fascinating hook up to the Fed Chart with Natal Mars Virgo ( reps. trade unions) in T.square to Venus Uranus Sag. (surprising women) opp Pluto Gemini 2nd.( mining resources fund the economy)
Tony Abbott’s nail in the coffin is the raison d’etre for this challenge and sudden change in leadership. A Govt. Run by the right wing here (again) is not worth countenancing in most peoples’ opinion. Let’s see if Julia can survive her coming Saturn and Pluto transits.
The times they are a-changing in Oz as current transit of Pluto mines relentlessly through all un-necessary dross, relegating to extinction any further waste of time. Kevin got lost in the Virgo details of getting it right. The bigger picture relentlessly moves on. Today’s Moon in Sag. is a push for the spirit of the Nation to deal with the old habits (Saturn) of a privileged foreign interest, Sun Saturn in Capricorn, *(9th House)* primarily male. Engagement at a deep level, Pluto, will overturn for the betterment of all. Maybe a Republic with true Indigenous inclusion together with refugees making a body of foreigners, 9th house, ( we are all of former foreign extraction) will examine Native values for the * Nature * of living and life itself, which we have lost and quite obviously to our mutual detriment. Fateful day!

James says "keep things simple" - that's correct. My only worry is how many T Pat Davis have "had the idea to combine geo & etc etc)"and then maybe it becomes astrological lore, i.e. = the way to do things. Synastry! now there is a seldom used word these days - I love synastry and find it has far more truth in it than composite charts. That is from experience, I do think the simple fact of taking one chart and adding another person's positions to it (in the old way of things) gives a much clearer and immediate relationship chart. I call synastry simple because nobody does it much any more (there are modes in astrology as well as fashion etc) but in my experience it works brilliantly. The simple fact of Obama's Saturn opposing McChrystal's Urnaus - beautifully said, planetarily speaking and indeed O does have the upper hand here.

With limited memory and a remarkably slow CPU by today's standards it performs as well as my Sony VAIO running Windows 7. And what's more Ubuntu can be downloaded for you to install yourself and run for FREE! What with the prospect of cloud computing appearing on the horizon it might appear that the mighty Microsoft monopoly might be hitting the skids any time soon. Apple Corps seems to be going from strength to strength whilst Microsoft seems to becalmed in a sea of confusion unsure of which direction to take because it must have run out of ideas. elaine makes a very good point that one needs to always keep in mind when doing anything with astrology regardless of the technique used... " Eclipses can only set off events that show some inherent capability in the natal chart of happening. " this needs to be repeated regularly for anyone wanting to learn more about astrology and all the different techniques available for use...
in many ways a simple approach is best.. having a natal chart and knowing about transits is plenty.. eclipse data has been used from before the time of personal astrology back to when the king or queens fate swung in the symbolism attached to eclipse data.. nowadays it is still used, but not as much or perhaps in the same way that it used to be.. doing research and reading up on this specific topic of astrology is necessary to get any kind of grounding.. the effect can be felt before and after for a number of years according to the theories on this.. i haven't done enough work with them to know with any authority the answers.. if you look at the solar eclipse for june 2001 you will see that sept 11th 2001 took place when t mars hit the eclipse point.. that is yet another layer to this technique! it is complicated and not worth venturing into without a good study of it..
as for solar arcs, they are really quite simple, especially if you have a computer prog, but even without.. once again though, reading up on this technique and being well versed in it is necessary.. some research and work using it has to happen before you can get much of a handle on it. same goes for transits which are in many ways easier and more immediately understandable..
i guess it goes back to keeping things simple..
regarding obama mccrystal, here is a post i made on left of the edge.com site today
in my travels in internetland i was reminded by isaac starkman of heliocentric positions and their possible use.. t. pat davis was an innovative astrologer who came up with the idea of combining helio and geo positions when looking at a chart.. if you do this for mccrack, ( and this will apply to this date regardless of time or place) you will note a helio mars at 3 aquarius, square to a geo saturn at 3 scorpio… this brings mars/saturn together in sharp focus.. this is a tough ass discipline (frustrated too?) energy looking to break out while also trying hard to contain the it from creating trouble.. this seems to characterize some of his personality better then we get from just the geo chart with the sun/pluto trine mars..
obama/mccrack synastry â€" o’s sun conj m’s mercury which is good.. problem is m has a mercury/mars 135 which is conflictual and argumentative.. m’s mars is now expressing the hostility in words to obama and it is obama who is in the driver seat here..
stress #2 â€" obama saturn is opposed by mc’s uranus exact… obama wants a certain structure in place, and mc wants to have the freedom to not adhere to it… recipe for conflict is large in the 2 mens charts..
conclusion â€" via the synastry the outcome is less favourable for mc…

Hi Elaine, You mentioned Transits? All I know is a my transiting Mars in Virgo, will begin to conjunct my Virgo Ascendent from the 12th House, within a few days of the July 11th eclipse.
|
From: Elaine. (22 Jun 2010 20:13):
I wouldn't expect Peter's sextile to do much unless he had other heavy transits to his Ascendant from other planets. It's usually conjunctions and accompanying transits that seem to kick things off. The most famous example of an eclipse I can think of is sadly that relating to the late Princess Diana. She died one day away from a partial eclipse hitting her natal Pluto at Virgo 9 degrees. Pluto was in her 8th house at 6 degrees along with Mars at 1 degree. Uranus and the N Node were also in that house. Many astrologers think the eclipse triggered the sudden death that appeared to be indicated by the natal chart. The eclipse highlighted transiting Pluto squaring her natal Mars at the time.
This is an extreme example. Eclipses can only set off events that show some inherent capability in the natal chart of happening. However other people with the same chart as Diana would not have all died because of that particular aspect. It just triggered a sequence of events and that happened to be the result in her particular case.
She was very susceptible to the effects of eclipses being a Sun Cancer. Her divorce was announced at a lunar eclipse and Prince William was born at a solar eclipse.

From: Maggy van Krimpen. (22 Jun 2010 18:41):
Thanks Elaine.....intrigued that events sometime occur before exact......with normal transits (in my opinion) this only happens with Mars, as it sort of jumps ahead as its reputation and speeds things up. However, with eclipses I suppose there is such huge tension with the Sun/Moon (always the most important planets in any chart)....in your experience, are the events difficult usually, or does it signify a change of direction, etc. You helpfully said it affects the houses it falls in and I suppose New/Full Moon people would be fairly hypersensitive. In Peter's example, would a sextile to Asc be felt, or does the aspect have to be a hard one to bring an event? thanks for this....

From: Elaine. (22 Jun 2010 17:05):
Peter - the Solar Eclipse on 11 July 2010 is at Cancer 19 degrees 24. You need to look for very close conjunctions/oppositions to this point in the natal chart for any significant effects.
|
From: Elaine. (22 Jun 2010 16:15):
I must admit to not being able to use solar arc either in my forecasting and always stick to transits and progressions.
I find eclipses are usually triggers to events, sparking off any ongoing transit patterns. The influence lasts from the date of the eclipse till the next one so can be up to 6 months but often you feel the effects well before it actually happens. Some folk feel the effects of eclipses very keenly.
Solar eclipses occur during New Moons and lunar eclipses during Full Moons. An eclipse brings change to wherever it falls in the chart so the house position can show where events will focus. I consider solar eclipses far more important than lunar ones. Many astrologers use them for predicting mundane and political events by studying Saros cycles, which is all a bit too complicated for me.

England's WEIRD WORLD CUP game - Whilst I rarely get caught up into the hype stream of World Cup football, I decided to surrender to a bit of patriotic light entertainent and watched the game between England and Algeria last night and it was, to say in the least, a very strange match indeed. England looked as though they'd been beamed up unexpectedly on the pitch. None of the players showed any of their individual gusto or flair - I watched like I was peering in on a some odd dream sequence. They have now, apparently, to play the game of their lives on weds... Any comments?

Gill, As I said before this isn't the place to discuss personal charts. But I would think there were definite family issues to be addressed with Uranus Saturn Neptune in the 4th trine his Sun - especially in relation to his father. One of the problems of having Sun etc in the 12th is that you sense what is going on below the surface - ie. that of which other family members are unconscious. I speak as someone who has a good deal in the 12th and have had to spend a great many years untangling the mystery of why my sense of family and other situations was at variance from those round about me. They thought it was all great while I had huge questionmarks. I was always told I was wrong and it took a long while to work out that actually I just saw the deeper layers. Most people live at their comfort level and are highly resistant to being pushed deeper. Perhaps your son is a message so to speak from the universe that you need to do more personal exploration.

Gill, Marjorie explained very clearly in her post and I agree with her. Your questioon about the generation between 60's and 90's could be answered : every generation has its hangups/problems/challenges and Marjorie says most people do their very best - and they do. Within their own experience and there lies the rub - we are all blinkered by our early upbringing, considering our own expereiences as "normal"without a thought. There is no such thing as a perfect chart, in fact many "difficult"ones have more graces and awareness in them than the easy ones. I think Marjorie's message is that you (we that is!) must be aware of our own parents'influences and see how we have carried them through to the next generation. When looking at a chart an astrologer will often see influences of grandparents in personality traits and events - we can't escape our genes; but we can understand them, address the difficulties they may have brought and work on them. Consciousness of a problem (as you have shown so well) is the first step - patterns are always visible in families, as are traits which you see/know will cause heartache for your own kids. Whether the cycle is actually broken, watered down or understood and dealt with is entirely up to us - but you have shown awareness that it is a joint responsibility with your son. Best wishes

Dear marjoria thank for your comments. It's refreshing to read that you are not one of those people who automatically blame the parents, even tho area's in a natal chart point to strong influnces from the family.Knowing how my son was cared for by me and his dad,i think [ and other family amd friends]that he was lucky to have loving, thoughtful parents. But when i look at his chart i find a different story."Well that's what you would say," i can hear you say, but i'm not one of those people who run away from reality, in fact i'm someone who questions my actions so much that i could be class as a bit of a bore.Hearing from parents of my son's generation,i,m hearing similar tales.Could there be any especially challenging aspects between the late 60's generation and the early 90's ones.

in the news today they have apparently caught one of the israeli folks involved in this and he is being held in poland.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/world/asia_pacific/10302022.stm
the relocated solar arc ascendant for this event is at the mercury/pluto midpoint.. other features to the solar arc and transit charts using the dubai angles are rather fascinating..

Hi Marjorie
In the US the bill (HR 4213)to extend unemployment benefits until November 2010 rages on in the Senate. The first extension was passed on November 20, 2008 and the current extension expired on May 31st. If the bill is not passed by the end of this month over 300,000 americans will be without benefits and that number will increase significantly each month. So many people are counting on this extension but because of all the infighting between h political parties there's a good possibility it won't.
Does it appear that the bill will pass or will the Republicans and conservative Dem.'s succed at killing it? So many people in the US are depending on this extension to see them through these difficult times and its shocking how little media coverage or backlash there is about this.
Thanks so much.

Here I would like to ask you about the relationship between Kings Charles I and Charles II. Chas 1 was small and fair and stood about 5'6" whereas Chas 2 was a dark and swarthy giant of 6'4". You could be forgiven for not recognisong them both as father and son as they appeared to be so totally opposite. Chas 1 was a hopeless politicion. Chas2 was a master at the subtle arts of politics and seemed to be able to charm his way through crisis after crisis - without losing his popularity with the English people. Scorps can appear so very calm and unstressed on the surface, but inside it can be an entirely different story. Alfred Hitchcock described Grace Kelly (another Scorpio) as a "snow-covered volcano." I thought that was a spot-on characterization of the Scorpio persona. My question: Is Laura Bush really as calm and unflappable as she appears? And what about her seemingly perfect marriage? Is it really perfect? Thank you--as always.

Dear Marjorie, Could I ask you to take a look at the Australia/New Zealand relationship in the broadest sense and consider where it might be taken over the years ahead esp in view of imminent global economic tempest. How might Aust/NZ emerge; a safe haven, closer partners, more ready to engage proactively in the economic development or redevelopment of Asia, or retreat into regionalism? On the surface the relationship exhibits much of the rivalry of siblings who went their own way while in reality remaining deeply interconnected culturally, by family, in sport, and economically now constituting a single lab market if not yet a complete common market nevertheless with a combined pop'n of not that far from 30 million..
In 1901 NZ declined to join the newly founded federation of Australia preferring Dominion status, partly I suspect owing to the distance issue (1500 miles took five days to traverse by ship). While on paper the door remains open (provision is there in the Aust. federal constitution) to join the Commonwealth. I suspect neither country sees any imperative for political or monetary union at this time. Yet there is a sense that more could be achieved. Together the two nations have an outgoing pioneering and can-do spirit, command magnificent resources and a capacity to supply unrivalled in the hemisphere.
Looking forward to your insightful views
Mark

Mars is closing in on the military star Regulus. I believe such a conjunction usually indicates revolutions, demonstrations, coup d'etats, assassinations and the like. Plenty of that likely anyway with the other planetary line ups coming up soon but should we be looking at any particular countries or leaders who have planets at Leo 29 degrees?

Thanks Helena for the thought about Bernadette Brady (in comments under Tony Hayward below) - she thinks early June may bring movement in Oil Spill and Greek debt crisis. I like her books. There is a Jupiter Uranus conjunction as both are then in Aries which may bring some lucky breaks. Though that won't sort the Eurozone mess, that's for sure. On the new format - there's no ideal one. The old style may have been easier for you to drop in and out of but it wasn't easier to read. It had got very messy and undisciplined, shooting off all over the place. And at the end of the day this is a public forum which is there not just for the inputters but more importantly for the readers. It is about shining a light on astrology, showing what it can do as an information source on current affairs and personalities for an audience which is wider than specialist astrologers. I have very much appreciated the input from astrologers like yourself, James and Maggy and others - and I think it helps enormously. The new section which I hope will be up tonight which will have running Hot Topics may help somewhat.

Hello Marjorie,
Thanks for the post on overheating of the Chinese economy. You have predicted even before in past that China will not fly ahead to become a superpower. You have also predicted good amount of trouble for US, Japan & Germany. Could you please tell us will all these economies retain their current position after 2015 or do you see US going down considerably? Will China go down from its current position or will it retain? Could you please put some light on India's rank in the economic scenario of 2015 as well. India currently is growing at a speed around 8.5% which is more than expected.
Thanking you, KMS

Housing Markets UK & US
Marjorie, Is there a way to look at the housing markets? Not sure how this could be done without a 'birthdate'? The UK still seems to have unsustainable high prices & is possibly in a bubble. This might cause the UK a lot of grief in the next few years. The US bubble seems to have burst & predictions are that prices will flat-line for many years to come. Is it possible to look at this astrologically?

I am sorry I am finding navigating the site rather confusing at the moment. I notice posting comments under the relevant topics doesn't generate much discussion. Seems mostly like a vast echo chamber of silence.
Israel seems determined to become a pariah among nations. I've thought for awhile that Israel would become more isolated and vulnerable to negative judgment given the approaching Saturn transit to the first house and it is alienating its allies spectacularly. Wonder how a "special relationship" with a national security threat to the U.S. - and the world - works exactly other than for the benefit of extremists and the military industrial complex.

There are parallels between now and previous Chiron in Pisces periods. Chiron was in Pisces for the duration of the U.S. Civil War from 1861-1865. Again today the country is deeply divided. Then again during the first World War when thousands of soldiers were disabled by gas which was used for the first time. Today, we have relief workers in the Gulf being hospitalized after breathing noxious fumes from the oil spill. They're probably not the only ones being affected. Chiron was also in Pisces during most of the turbulent '60s. Chiron in Pisces has to do with times when the civil rights of minorities and socially oppressed people come to the fore. The Pisces themes are highlighted, sacrifice, mass suffering, disillusionment, a longing to be saved, and for transcendence, either through drugs or spiritually.
At the time of the spill, Neptune was in a tight quincunx with Saturn and remains so through July. Saturn went direct today (Sunday) and is moving towards an exact opposition with Uranus in July. The top kill procedure to stop the leak failed and was stopped last Saturday. Going back to Saturn Neptune, I'm reminded of President Carter's failed attempt to rescue the hostages in Iran in April, 1980 when several helicopters were damaged in a sandstorm and in a subsequent refueling accident. To my mind, Saturn Neptune in hard aspect is not conducive to performing risky or complicated operations successfully. We're also dealing with a Saturn Pluto square. This is looking like a tough slog. BP and its army of consultants from all reports is planning on doing what they've done in the past, which has never been attempted at these depths. But, the one bright spot I think is the Jupiter Uranus conjunction, which suggests success lies in thinking outside the box.
Hopefully, this disaster will be a turning point for the country. But it'll be driven by the people, not the politicians who are captured by the oil industry.

bp oil disaster and chiron. it occurred to me just the other day that chiron entered pisces the same day the bp disaster began - april 20th... i wasn't hip to chiron until around the time of my own chiron return - it is a 50 year cycle - at which time i was confronted with a 'health issue' that required a different approach on my part.. chiron is often ignored by many in the astro community and i have been no different in downplaying its significance.. with so much to pull from astrologically it is easy to prioritize what one does look at neglecting to notice the centrality of other less used astro signatures, chiron in this example... it was discovered in 76 or thereabouts, so many of the astrologers of the 60's can be forgiven i suppose.. chiron seems to articulate a wound that needs healing.. pisces represents a potential blind spot that may relate to one's undoing... whether this has great bearing on bp, the oil industry, or a broader spectrum of positions on environmental/economic issues is too early to tell, but it's fascinating to consider.. the significance of chiron's entrance into pisces with the timing of the bp oil disaster in the gulf is very interesting to any student of astrology.. in the chart for the event - april 20 943pm chiron is also the planet most noticeably aspecting an angle as well, unless one wants to work with the vertex axis where the moon in cancer is conj anti-vertex... this square from chiron to the ascendant/desc would seem to suggest that grand ideas - drilling a mile below the ocean surface - or superficial ones - not having any back up plan in the advent of the shut off valve falling - both quickly symbolized by sag/gemini on the asc/desc axis is being confronted head on with chiron at 0 pisces 'unforeseen accident' that has left many people in a state of hostage... this is some of how i see the symbolism playing out.. is there any silver lining in the event? if the angles have any significance and are as i think the major part of the chart telling the story, then i think there is... chiron exact square to the asc/desc is 144 to the antivertex/moon in cancer conj... perhaps the nurturing of our planet as represented in a broad sense by moon in cancer, will be given an opportunity to work off this event in a more conscious manner moving forward... being good stewards towards the planet is essential if we are to survive as a species on this earth.. this event is an opportunity to take a look in the collective mirror and forgo exploitation of the planet for consideration of it's well being.. that is the opportunity here.. whether it is taken is an open question at this point... i think chiron is a really interesting thought provoking energy in astrology and i along with other astrologers need to consider it's relevance much more then i have to date... the top kill idea is an expedient answer which appears to have not worked... this is like the chiron wound that isn't healing as quickly and immediately as many had hoped.. trying the standard methods may not provide the answer here.. meanwhile we are left with the pain of this event aching any thinking persons consciousness as it must... searching for a way to heal this would seem to be a story about chiron in pisces as much as or more then any of the other astro signatures in the event chart for this...
