In Mel Gibson's heyday as Hollywood's golden boy, happy family man etc etc I used to look at his chart and wonder what on earth he did with all that extraordinarily heavy and difficult energy in his chart.
Born on 3 Jan 1956 4.45pm Peekskill, NY, US he's a Sun Capricorn with Moon in Libra. The eye-catcher however is a fearsome 5th house Mars Saturn in Scorpio square Pluto Jupiter. It does make sense of a financially successful entertainment career playing violent heroes. But it clearly also operates in his personal life and indeed personality. Following on from his anti-semitic rant at police when they stopped him on a drink drive offence a couple of years back, he's now embroiled in yet more accusations of racism and aggressive behaviour as he splits from his girlfriend Oksana, mother of his latest baby.
My reckoning was the rot set in when he made his bloody and sadistic the Passion of Christ. At that point his Mars Saturn had moved by Solar Arc to straddle his Capricorn Sun. So arguably unleashing all of his deep seated and really brutal aggression, sanitised as a religious epic. And his Uranus opposes Mel's Pluto and squares Mars Saturn which would be a quite explosive combination if it weren't all so locked down by that Mars Saturn Pluto in Fixed signs. But there's a huge powder keg of resentment in there which I suspect has never and will never be addressed, hence perhaps Mel's alcoholic tendency. At the moment Mel's Moon has moved by Solar Arc to conjunct his Mars two years back when he divorced and first started to go seriously off the rails. The SArc Moon will square his Pluto in two or three years time before being conjunct his Saturn the year after. So he's got a long haul of extreme emotional tension. The pressure cooker inside him is going to continue to boil over.
