India's economy is growing at a rate which must make the US and Europe green with envy though as Mark says (in New Topics) with all manner of accompanying problems - of rampant inflation, bureaucratic muddles, widening inequalities etc etc.
With the Sun and four other planets including Saturn Pluto in Leo and Jupiter in Scorpio it is a fixed country where change will only come after considerable pressure.
But as far as the impending global economic hiatus is concerned it may fare better than most. It does admittedly have Mars at 0 degrees Cancer in the 2nd house (personal finances) square a 5th house (speculation) Neptune at 8 Libra - so it won't escape entirely the coming tr Uranus opp Mars in 10/11 which is highly insecure; tr Saturn square Mars in late July 10 which will be a financial setback; then tr Saturn conjunct Neptune in that tricky Oct/Nov period this year which seems to be showing up on a good many of the finance charts as a definite roadblock.
But it is buoyed up by transits to Jupiter midpoints through 10/11/12. It may, of course, overstep the mark with tr Pluto square Sun/Jupiter in 10/11 which will send inflation soaring even higher. But there'll be lucky breaks in 11/12 with tr Pluto trine Jupiter/Uranus.
The Reserve Bank of India has a 10 degree Aries Sun (opp Mars at 18 Libra widely square Pluto at 23 Cancer) so it'll will be under pressure to control the internal financial situation in India between this Oct and mid 2011. And it also has in 10/11 tr Pluto sextile Saturn so it will be trying to pull back rather than letting expansion get out of control.
Where the real problems will come is 2013/14 as tr Pluto and tr Uranus hard aspect the Res Bank Sun which will cause major upheavals and require a considerable change in outlook. By that time the Solar Arc Pluto is also in opposition to the Res Bank Sun which is a complete standstill.
And the India country chart also shows up 2012/13 as a time when the financial pressures will really bite with tr Pluto and tr Uranus in hard aspect to their Neptune - which will be panic and confusion, some kind of a meltdown.
But for all that I do still reckon India will manage better than some. This is just speculation on my part but I think that tr Pluto through the 8th of a country (as opposed to a personal) chart does indicate increasing prosperity. India has Pluto in the 8th until early in the next decade. Though they can't escape entirely since their economic growth is dependent on other countries investing and buying which can't happen if there's a general economic downturn.
