From: elderwoman(21 Jul 2010 14:33):  thanks everyone. your observations are so interesting.

couple of things i noticed are that julia gillard and her opponent tony abbott both have natal mars near end of libra. tony's moon at 6 aries, is opposite julia's sun at 6 libra.

a good aspect for julia is that on election day, the t.sun will be conjct. her natal n.nodes and uranus at end of leo.

Maggy, Melanie thank you so much for your valuable and enjoyable interaction here. Much appreciation to Marjorie Orr for the opportunity offered in allowing space for discussion to be made available to others, on her forum. It is acknowledged with thanks. Let’s just see what this election day turns up for this antipodean land. Cheerio!
From: Maggy van Krimpen(20 Jul 2010 07:57):  Sol, I am sure Australian astrologers probably know all about their politicians' connections (or otherwise) with the Fed chart.....nevertheless for both NR and the country's charts to even have the same SEQUENCE (i.e. Merc (in mutables), Chiron, Saturn, Sun is nothing short of amazing. Chiron as you say is so significant but adds to such a fated connection. Their Mercuries are mutable, the rest of the planets cardinal and her natal Mars at 29 Libra falls exactly opposite the Fed ascendant.....

You gave the poll time opening as 8 a.m. when precisely 0 degrees of Libra rises! this must be an astrologically chosen moment, just look at the chart.....!
From: sol(20 Jul 2010 02:49):
Maggy, Aha! You found the Nicola connection to the Aust. chart, * Sun Saturn Chiron*. Quite blinding, mirroring as the greater draws the smaller for its own purpose, don’t you think? Serendipitous for the country, needing timing. Her family’s frustrations to arrive at a healing solution and the country’s same situation. Ancestors are vastly important in the mythology of this country, both indigenous and European. You have grasped the Chiron connection of ancestor healing immediately, and can apply it to the Aust chart 9th house. Excellent insight. People come here to heal their ancestral pain. Lifeboat Australia is our new name.

Painting a large picture here, the Fed. chart is an odd hourglass shape and it tips back and forth, the most ancient opposed to the most modern. Pluto Neptune hold a powerful mystery containing our true values (2nd house) opposite all those (8th, 9th ) who have been forced to come here or freely arrived over time and drawn unconsciously! The interior of Australia can be a scary overwhelming place so people polarise around the coastlines for water and comradeship, (no water planets). Periodically the ancient beingness “clunks” us over the head and demands attention be paid to its purpose. We are entering one of those times, blind as bats, where the election frenzy of politicians, makes us sound like frightened fleas biting the hand which feeds us.

Both Sec Prog. Sun and Solar Arc Sun are just over the Aust Fed. ASC. still in last stage of Aries. The timing of the Sign change to Taurus on election day is spooky and possibly Reagan-like. The natural feminine principle within Taurus brings to mind from indigenous lore, the return of “ the Great Mother who cares for the land and her people ” in any which-way necessary. So watch out. Perhaps a series of female Prime Ministers? Who knows? Certainly preferable to the installation of Tony Abbott’s Opus Dei friends into high positions. The polls open here at 8:00 am and close at 6:00 pm in every state with the relevant time changes necessary on Saturday 21st August 2010. Sheep are familiar to both of us.
From: Maggy van Krimpen(19 Jul 2010 15:01):  Melanie, Sol....just re-read some posts on the Hot Topics about your political situation. Having just seen the Fed chart, I notice with shock that Nicola Roxon has exactly the same configuration (unusually) of Sun Saturn Chiron conjunction!!!! How's that for a deeply meaningful connection? I will have to read further to see why SHE is not running......yes, NZ is wonderful but when I was young I wanted pollution! graffiti! 400 people in a room partying! You always revert back though, after despising sheep (they outnumber us, you'll know the feeling) I am now back every week getting my dog to herd them and our big thrill is walking in the Dolomites or from east to west Germany etc - you can take the girl out of the country, etc...
From: Maggy van Krimpen(19 Jul 2010 11:08):  Thanks everyone for your nice input - Sol, that is truly magnificent, the sleuthing that Alice did and the chart shuld justly be Australia"s (the o key does not work properly on this ...). Hurrah for astrologers who do the slogging homework to come up with correct times - we will never advance without accuracy.

With the last degree of Aries rising (actually out of sign really) do astrologers down under consider Mars and/or Venus to be the chart ruler? With the natal Moon at the midpoint of Ven/Asc AND Mars/Asc, it makes it even more difficult to tell. Perhaps it also gives perfect equality between men and women politicians? The Sun/Moon midpoint falls on the Asc at 0 Taurus also adding weight to that viewpoint. Mention has been made of the retro Mercury on election day, interesting how it could manifest - there is a natal opposition between those planets (the closest aspect in the chart) so will it make a huge difference, or none since it is sort of in the psyche of the population already......Was not surprised to see the Fire/Earth bias, the steamroller combination of Zio Dobbins which really applies to the way the country has been known for its "get on with it" attitude. There's a complete absence of Water in the chart (that has a physical manifestation too, clearly)but that packed 8th house compensates somewhat. Of course four planets in Sag makes me realise that strong element in the national character - optimism, and can do. The Sun/Sat in the 9th of course indicates peoples from far away settling there, perhaps the Saturn shows their tough, long slog to make it work. It still amazes me to have such a strong Cap/Saturn (for its even more powerful in its own sign) in the chart. However, I notice that Jupiter aspects are the most prolific of any and the big midpoint at 11 Taurus where it sits equidistant from Sun/Ven, Sun/Mars, Sat/Ur, Moon/MC, Sat/Pluto. On election day the progressed node is exactly at 11 Cap, trining this lot so it does look momentous in some respect.

Another midpoint at 7 Aries will be triggered when prog. Mercury sits at that degree on the day - Mars/MC=Saturn, Pluto/AC=Sat - not wonderful, esp with P Uranus making a very exact semi-sextile to the Asc.

In this chart it is impossible to see who has the upper hand between Mars and Venus and even on election day they are holding hands again at 13 Libra....does make you wonder if they had an astrologer choose the date when the prog. Sun (of the Federation chart) conjuncts the natal ascendant exactly!!!! A touch of the old Ron Reagans?

I'd be interested in your views, Sol and others, on how Chiron works in this chart. I never use it personally but it has many conjunctions so would love to hear how it translates into life in Australia.....excellent aspects to the ascendant of all the heavies as well, though v.few to the MC.
From: Melanie(19 Jul 2010 04:51):  OMG Maggy I had you pegged as English - but no, you are from the land of the long white cloud. I agree, Sol, NZ is beautiful.
From: sol(19 Jul 2010 03:02):
Maggy, fantastic news ...you are a KIWI! .... should have recognised the lively voice from across the Tasman, much earlier. Good to hear your comments from wherever. Thanks for your participation here. New Zealand is a most beautiful landscape to visit at anytime.
From: sol(19 Jul 2010 02:10):
Hi Maggy, cannot speak for elderwoman or which chart she favours but am trying to clear this up for you.

Much mis-information published for the Australian chart re Nick Campion’s book of World Horoscopes. The chart used by serious astrologers here, a chart having real power for Australia is the Federation Chart, January 1st 1901 at 1:35:42 pm in SYDNEY. The problem has arisen because Nick published a relocated chart for Melbourne at 1:25 pm, his own reasons unknown !! Maggy I recently posted the stats. in the Hot Topics forum if you care to check back.

Excerpt from Alice McDermott, a.k.a. Alice Portman , Aust. astro-site. recognised researcher of the history of this country and tested astrological resonance. Currently president of the Sth Australian astrologers assoc. I am aware of the difficulty for astro info. from Aust. making its way above the EQUATOR!

An Alice Quote,
** Re the erroneous information that Australia was ‘born’ in Melbourne. There was no procession and no swearing in of any Governor General, Prime Minister or Members of Parliament in Melbourne at 1.25 pm on 1st January 1901. Nothing of any consequence happened then as Melbourne Members of Parliament were in Sydney being Sworn In at the time. Melbourne had its big celebration at the Opening of Parliament ceremony on the 9th May 1901 in the Exhibition Building, Melbourne. Parliament was held in Melbourne until it moved to the new capital, Canberra, in 1927.**

** I, (alice) have thoroughly researched the origins of our country and the fascinating stories of the beginning of our Commonwealth. Australia was the first country to ‘ FILM ‘ the inauguration of the first Governor General, Prime Minister and Members of Parliament that took place at the end of a joyous procession attended by over 250,000 people, delegates from all the other states (including Victoria) and delegates from other countries, in SYDNEY, Australia.

The celebration and Swearing-In Ceremonies had a very magical feel as there was a huge electrical storm that cleared up just before the procession started at 10.00 am and started again about 2.00 pm, just after all the ceremonies were complete.

I (alice) do not know why astrologers are ignoring the work of one of our best research astrologers, Gwen Stoney, who obtained the FILM of the event, actually timed the Swearing-In and then tested the chart using Cosmobiology techniques. She timed it at 1.35.42 pm on the 1st January 1901 in Sydney, Australia. She presented this EVIDENCE at the Sydney FAA Conference in 1980 and it has since been widely accepted as Australia’s chart. This fully recorded evidence is “ irrefutable”!

These events are also fully documented in Canberra. ** http://aliceportman.com/?p=28

**I, (alice) don't know why Nicholas Campion didn't include it in his book. My guess is that he got information about Australia's birth chart from a Melbourne astrologer and as Melbourne and Sydney have a great rivalry, Melbourne doesn't like the thought of Australia's national chart being based in Sydney and so the astrologer would have given him the Melbourne based chart.** from Alice on Noel Tyl forum.

Try the solar arcs, progs, transits to the ASC. of 29 ARIES 34 and M.C, of 2 Aquarius 56. approx. They are interesting.

From: Maggy van Krimpen(18 Jul 2010 21:32):  Excuses for the typos, my own computer has died and this is a borrowed, unfamiliar one.
From: Maggy van Krimpen(18 Jul 2010 21:31):  Elderwoman, great post...what chart are you using for Australia may I ask? You mention the cuntry's prog. Sun is just into Taurus (so that is a positive thing considering the very tight cardinal square at 2 degrees exactly (saturn 2 Libra-opp Jup 2 Aries, square Pluto 2 Cap)....t least the cuntry seems very stable amongst theworld's economcies with the busienss planets (Jup/Sat) and globalisation (Pluto) in good aspects.

A retrograde Mercury (from my point of view) would be much more damaging if the Sun was in Virgo - I assumed it to be so, but Sun at about 27 Leo ( the midpoint of J Gillard's Uranus/Node)shows some upset/upheaval. Transit Mercury at about 19 Virgo would be almost ex. opposite her progressed Mon at 19 Pisces.....this is a very nervous aspect, shaken somehow.

Today in a British broadsheet was a photo of JG looking coiffed (of course!) in a white power suit and her runnign mage, hirsute, naked (except for a pair of those hideous kimpies with some ridiculous bathing cap on......hmmmm) - it wasclearwho was the politician there but the transits indicate a bit of a shock I think with the Node/Uranus thingy.....wouldbe v. interested to see the country's chart - I am aKiwi and NZ is entirely Capricornian, I was taught from very young that Australia was a Jupiter-ruled country, I just do not understand how these delineations are made, yet I do feel our side of the pond is far more obviously Cap than yours (I live on the other side of the world now).
From: elderwoman(17 Jul 2010 22:52):  australia goes to election on 21 august with t.sun opposite t. neptune, and mercury retrograde. i agree, majorie, with your comment about confusion, and to add even more, there is an exact square between t.saturn and t.pluto. - all, of course opposing t.uranus conjt. t.jupiter r. the t.moon will be beside t.n.node conjt. Australia's natal sun in capricorn.

what a challenging set of transits!

in addition, australia's progressed sun has just entered taurus, and t.mars and t.venus will be happily conjunct on election day, in libra - the sun sign of present p.m. julia gillard - not far from her natal sun at 6 degrees libra. another good sign is her progressed jupiter which is conjunct australia's natal m.c. on election day. this could well point to a woman as p.m.

i suspect there may be a surprising, uranus-type result, with gillard only just returned as p.m., and a possible hung parliament with the greens. change is coming to australia in spite of a long tradition of very conservative saturnian leaders. gillard may be forced to make changes she does not want.
