Another drug lord bites the dust in an army shoot out in Mexico. The death of Ignacio Coronel, known as the "King of Crystal" for his control over methamphetamine into the United States is a significant feather in the cap of President Felipe Calderon. More than 25,000 people have died in drug-related violence since the Mexican Government launched its offensive against the cartels in late 2006.
Coronel was believed to be the right-hand man of Joaquin "Shorty" Guzman, Mexico's most-wanted drug lord who has made it onto the billionaires list.
Coronel, born 1 Feb 1954 was a Sun Venus in Aquarius, in a confident trine to Jupiter and a determined square to unyielding Saturn in Scorpio. But what marks his chart is a Mercury in Aquarius opposition Pluto square Mars in Scorpio. Putting that headstrong, dogged, ruthless Mars in Scorpio as the focal point.
Joaquin Guzman, born, 4 April 1957, is a Sun Venus in Aries sextile Mars in Gemini, trine Saturn in Sagittarius. So he again has an afflicted Mars with the opposition to Saturn. It is also a highly entrepreneurial chart with Uranus and Pluto also in Fire signs in Leo. His life has taken a considerable jolt at the moment with his Solar Arc Mars conjunct his Uranus.
Arturo Beltran Leyva, another drug lord, despatched late last year, 27 Sep 1961, also had an afflicted/hard aspected Mars in Libra square Jupiter Saturn in Capricorn.
President Calderon, is himself a Leo Sun sextile Mars in Gemini; with a confident Jupiter in Pisces opposition Uranus Pluto in Virgo. He's looking more than a touch insecure in October this year as tr Uranus squares his Mars, and that returns in early 2011.
His Presidency chart, 1 Dec 2006, has a heavy weight Saturn in Leo square Mars in Scorpio, trine Pluto in Sagittarius describing his admirable and courageous though possibly foolhardy campaign against the drug lords. It is in trouble this year and more so next. His Government's confidence is being eroded by tr Neptune square Mars from September through till early 2011; and then tr Neptune square the composite Mars. Tr Uranus is trine the Govt SArc Mars and square Solar Arc Pluto in Aug/Sep and Feb/March 2011 which is very unstable.
