present Influences: Now up for his 8th Oscar nomination for his role as the clapped-out actor in Hanif Kureishi’s Venus this February, he looks more confident than he has in years. Pluto trines his fifth house Jupiter from late January right through to June and returning into 2008, so whatever happens he’ll be back on top and probably receiving even more film offers. His bank balance should improve as a result since Pluto Jupiter always brings tangible boosts as well. Plus he has Jupiter moving into his 8th house from late February 07 for a year which usually brings surprise bounty from the universe. Though with Pluto also moving through his 8th (2002 till 2011) he may need surplus, since it usually brings some cash problems with it. Through this year as well Pluto is sextile his Mars at the same time as it picks up Jupiter, which will make him doubly determined and infuential.
Birth Chart: A New Moon in Leo in the 4th house makes him flamboyant, self sufficient, colourful, proud of his heritage, rather private. His home is his castle and he’ll defend it against all intruders. With Pluto in the fourth he does feel intensely about his family, though his feelings run so deep he’s probably not aware of how controlling he can be in his intimate space. With Saturn in Aquarius in his 10th he was always destined to be more successful in the later stages of his life. He is better organised than his chaotic hell-raising past might suggest. Saturn opposes his New Moon and Pluto so he has a depressive streak, always thinking of himself as the outsider, with low self esteem and a distinct sense from a rather bleak childhood that he was neither good enough nor loveable enough. Which probably contributed to his legendary drinking. This highly karmic Saturn, so pivotal to his career and his life, is also on the apex of a yod to Mercury and Venus. Yods bring a sense of fatedness to a life, often with self-defeating attitudes and much uncertainty. Though latterly it gives a strong sense of purpose and makrs the individual out from the crowd.
What helps to lift his undoubtedly gloomy streak is a passionately enthusiastic Mars Venus conjunction in his 2nd, giving him a love for fun and money, which sextiles onto his theatrical 5th house planets of confident and lucky Jupiter, expressive Mercury and filmic, creative Neptune. His love of the tnertainment business and indeed children were never going to be in doubt. With Uranus in the 12th in a mini-grand trine to Jupiter and Mars, his maverick, oddball tendencies were put to productive and lucrative use.
