Political Astrology Gordon Brown - April 08 20 February 1951 8.40 am Glasgow, Scotland.
Gordon Brown From: Marjorie. (15 Apr 2008 09:43): Gordon Brown, the UK PM facing the worst poll ratings drop of any prime minister since ratings began, is as the astrology indicated not having a great year. [See Gordon Brown: Politics Section.] And it can only get worse. He has Pluto square Saturn at the moment till late April, repeating till late 2009, which is a real uphill struggle against obstacles, depression and will put a significant drain on his stamina and health since it's a 6th house Saturn. He's got Neptune square his Sun/Moon midpoint in 08 which lowers popularity. Uranus is heading for a highly insecure, accident prone conjunction to Mars from mid May to early August 08, repeating to late 09. Then Saturn starts to oppose his Jupiter from August 08 which dampens enthusiasm for a year thereafter. And Saturn follows on to oppose Mars and Venus till late 09 with emotional upsets from Uranus conjunct Venus in 09 as well. Plus the 08 and January 09 Solar Eclipses are bouncing off his 5th house Moon Pluto in Leo opposition Mercury which can only increase pressure. Solar Eclipses conjunct or opposition the Moon face you with your past, and test the foundations on which you've built your life. If they are shaky then everything starts to crumble, including your public image. Mercury on the Eclipses brings an intellectual crisis, communication glitches and a great deal of running around trying to fix whatever has gone off track. Pluto on the Eclipses either brings decay or an opportunity for total transformation though that requires a capacity for letting old attitudes go and starting again. His Secondary progressed Moon going through his 6th along with Saturn will add to pressures on his health at the moment and for the next two years. It meets the opposition to natal Mars in December 08 which will be tense, impatient, winding up pressure physically and emotionally and then reaches the conjunction with Saturn in August 09 which will bring a sobering facing up to reality. Pluto is also heading for his midheaven in 09/10 which can bring a fall from grace and requires a total rethink of career direction. The GB Government chart is highly frustrated at the moment (Pluto trine Mars) with real rumblings of anger underneath and that runs till late 09. Neptune opposes Saturn through 08 which is confusing, uncertain, not winning. And Saturn squares Jupiter and opposes Uranus from autumn 08 till late 09 which will be discouraging and very unsettled. The Labour Party chart is seething with rage and despair with Brown through 08 with major disappointment after July; and 09 looks like a nadir. His strained relationship with Tony Blair which has appeared reasonably equable since Blair left No 10 may flare up again into a war of words from late April 08 and will certainly be very heated from July to late October 08. And his relationships with close political colleagues are also under a dark cloud. Ed Balls, his old Treasury companion, recently spoken off as a possible successor, is facing an uphill struggle this year with Brown. Balls, another Pisces, has Pluto square his Saturn till the end of 08 which makes him feel he isn't winning on any front, and with Uranus opposing his Pluto and approaching his mid-life crisis Uranus opposition next year, along with a highly impatient Pluto sextile Mars may feel like throwing in the towel and going elsewhere. His composite with Brown is very laboured in 08/09 as Pluto conjuncts the composite Saturn, with a sense of separation up to mid 08, and intense emotional reactions marring the later stages of 08 as Pluto squares the composite Venus. David Milliband, the Foreign Secretary, a canny Cancerian with a lucky Jupiter in Gemini is equally at odds with his Prime Minister as Pluto conjuncts the composite Mars and trines Pluto through 08/09 so ego conflicts are inevitable. From now till mid 08 is especially cool and stuck and aggravated. 2009 brings Uranus square the composite Saturn which will upset the applecart altogether between them. Jack Straw, the Justice Minister, also has a Brown composite which is riven by dispute, problems that won't get solved. That relationship will go into a major rock n' roll phase from July 08 worsening into 09. It isn't going to end well for Gordon Brown which will be a bitter pill to swallow after his long years in waiting. From: Marjorie. (15 Dec 2007 : On Gordon Brown: the media have been describing his extraordinary late arrival to sign the Treaty in private and miss the Heads of States photograph as the act of a sulky child. And it was very passive aggressive - I don't want to do this but I'm not going to confront the issue, I'll just scuff my shoes and show my displeasure by being rude. Most odd. He does have a passive-aggressive Mars opposition Saturn, and with Mars in Pisces never mind being in the 12th he's not what you'd call courageously decisive. He doesn't essentially like or trust the EU but doesn't have the guts to stand up and say so. So he's ended up with the worst of all worlds - dragged backwards into a treaty he didn't have the backbone to resist. A pragmatist might have made the decision it was inevitable and then taken control by being the shining star amongst the other European Heads of State. But he's got no earth planets in his chart and only Saturn in an earth house. And that grandstanding ego-centered Moon Pluto in the 5th sits very uneasily with his four Pisces 12th house planets. He wants to be a solo star or stay hidden in his shell and he seems to veer erratically between one or the other. He's not going to have his troubles to seek in 2008 but he certainly won't be around to see the EU crumble. Gordon Brown facing No 10 From: Marjorie. (10 May 2007 14:15): Gordon Brown's long awaited prize of the premiership doesn't appear to be giving him much heart felt joy. If anything his chart reflects anxiety, confusion, worries about his popularity and a sense of how much hard work is going to be involved. He'll feel uptight, fairly obsessive in June, grappling with chaotic situations (Pluto conjunct Venus/Saturn) and will be especially deflated through the second half of June, certainly not happy in his closest relationships or about his poll ratings (Saturn square Sun/Moon). Mid July to late October he'll be irritable, argumentative, heavily challenged, and under strain with high risk, not to say dangerous situations to contend with (Pluto conjunct Mars/Saturn). On top of all that he's also got dreary Saturn into Virgo from September opposing his 4 Pisces planets over the coming two years which is always an ego-denting experience. Saturn moving into his 6th house of health and work from August for four years will be a daunting prospect since it usually brings hard labour without much appreciation and the need to be sensible about physical limits. His health may be a concern since his progressed Moon is already moving through this chart area for the next three years which is always a low energy time when emotional upsets and tensions are communicated to the body. What won't help is disruptive Uranus conjunct his 12th house Mars from May 2008 which is an over heated, unstable influence, liable to blow fuses. He'll be insecure, edgy, liable to impulse decisions to prop up his self esteem. He looks unlikely to emulate Tony Blair's three terms since his career and home life will go into major transformation gear in 2010. He's likely then or the following year to change career direction totally. Gordon Brown's Chart: The UK Prime Minister who took over from Tony Blair on 27th June 2007 at 1.30pm has his Sun and three other planets (Jupiter, Mars, Venus and his Moon’s North Node) in emotional, self protective, sensitive Pisces in the hidden 12th house. His chart is oddly disjointed and riddled with contradictions. The fiery Aries Ascendant gives him a forceful image which belies the reality of a temperament happiest when out of sight (12th), prone to indecision and reluctant to take direct action(a double whammy of Mars in Pisces in 12th), a dreamer rather than a do-er. So much Pisces in the 12th makes him prey to unconscious anxieties, gives him a tendency to brood and be resentful, and to act in secret rather than bring disagreements out in the open. Pisces is a mutable energy so he tends to adapt to circumstances or be blown around by them rather than standing his ground or taking direct action. Standing in contradiction to this hidden watery core to his personality is a flamboyant, demanding, attention seeking Moon Pluto conjunction in Leo in the 5th. He needs to be seen as a person of substance, can stand on his dignity, be proud, arrogant, stubborn – a bit of a diva. It also gives a strong interest in speculation and financial interests though not necessarily good judgement since it is sparsely aspected and therefore likely to act erratically. Neptune in the 7th, again sparsely aspected, suggests a difficulty in being committed to close relationships, either working or emotional, with a tendency to attract partners who are unreliable (Blair?). His Saturn in Libra in the 6th on the focal point of a T square makes him exceptionally hard working (again a double if not triple whammy of Libra and 6th and T square). He’s likely to over commit himself, and suffer from great anxiety since progress only comes slowly against huge resistance (focal point Cardinal Saturn). It does give him executive ability, though he will insist on having exclusive supervision over all his activities and resentful of anyone who stands in his way. More importantly in many ways it will give him health issues as a result of over work and worry. His Saturn squares onto an emotionally and domestically restless 4th house Uranus. This square tends to make for a dictatorial streak and inconsistencies in his attitudes. In many ways it is a chart better suited to an artist or a behind-the-scenes worker in the caring/medical fields than a frontline politician. PRESENT INFLUENCES. Input Dec 28 2007: 2008 will be an insecure, jangled year for him with real questionmarks over his stamina and his judgement. Both Saturn and his Secondary Progressed Moon are moving through his 6th for the next three years which suggests a heavy workload with little real appreciation coming his way and a consequent tendency to push past his physical limits which will rebound in health worries. This is further emphasised by Pluto squaring his 6th house Saturn through 08 and 09 which usually accompanies a challenging, really strenuous, bleak time in facing up to difficult situations requiring huge stamina. His ideas, authoritarian attitudes and his authority will meet with resistance and he’ll have to give way whether he likes it or not. Since Saturn is in an out-of-sign opposition to his Mars, the Pluto square will also have the effect of aspecting Mars as well which will add to the pressure. there will also be (Pluto square Saturn exact – March/April 08, Dec/Jan 09, July, Oct/Nov 09). On top of all of this he has Uranus conjunct his 12th house Mars ( mid May to early Aug 08, March 09, Nov/Dec 09 )which will bring shocks, upheavals, attacks on his self esteem which can either result in health problems or reckless macho gestures to prop up his sense of identity – or both. Later in 2008 Saturn in Virgo opposes his Jupiter (in Oct 08, April 09, June 09) dampening his enthusiasm and lowering his confidence, hinting at the need for caution and cutbacks. By August 09 the exact Saturn Uranus opposition, often a sign of general economic instability in the world, will hit his 12th house Mars Venus conjunction which will cause great disruptions and discouragement. Into 2009 transitting Pluto is within a degree of his midheaven which suggests a career meltdown and fall from grace and status, with upheavals in his domestic situation. Assuming his birth time is accurate then it won’t hit exactly until 2010 but could come earlier. It usually ushers in a decade plus of searching for a more meaningful vocation. GB’s relationship with his own Labour Party looks fraught in the extreme from late December 07 till end of January 08, mid June to late July, Nov 08 with a great deal of anger being expressed and suppressed on both sides, as well as a good deal of muddle, confusion and depression about what each owes the other. There’ll be an outburst of sorts in February if not before, with major changes being demanded in April and beyond. The chart of the Brown Government has a 9th house Sun, Mercury in Cancer so the focus will be on law, education, foreign relations. Jupiter in the 3rd talks enthusiastically; Pluto in the 3rd rather dogmatically. Pluto trines Mars in Taurus which gives a hint of the old Blair control-freakery though in more muted form. An unaspected Moon in the 2nd and an afflicted Neptune in the 5th suggests money worries will loom large with confusion around decisions relating to the financial markets. Saturn in opposition to Neptune from the 11th points to discouragement about long term plans and hopes, as well muddle over legislative affairs. Uranus in the 6th suggests reforms will be demanded in the health service, as well as with public workers in trade unions and the military. These may hit a hurdle in March, Nov/Dec 08 and especially towards the year end as Saturn also opposes Uranus then.
