As J.K.Rowling lays down her pen from the final Harry Potter it's interesting to reflect on her last astonishing ten years since the first mega-best seller started to roll. She doesn't have an easy chart with a regretful, slightly depressive Saturn in Pisces in opposition to a disruptive collection of Uranus, Pluto and Moon in Virgo, so her emotional life will always have been tumultuous. Luckily that all squares onto expansive Jupiter close to the Moon's North Node in Gemini, which is a great communicator and will help to boost her optimism, but it would still make her life a roller coaster ride. And her colourful Leo Sun squares Neptune which could have produced a vague dreamer.
So what marked her out for fame and fortune?
If this birth time is accurate then Jupiter falls in the 8th house of business finances (and transformation) so luck is on her side. Her Sun is in the 9th house of widespread communication and publishing. She has Mercury, Venus, Uranus in the 10th so her communication skills, creative talents and innovative streak boost her ambitions. With Moon Pluto in the 11th she has a powerful effect on society. Saturn is in the 5th which suggests children come later in life than usual and also often appears in the charts of those who either work with children or work behind the scenes in the entertainment businesses.
Added to this when she started her Secondary Progressed Moon was about to cross the ascendant starting a whole new 29 year cycle in her life, and more importantly the Jupiter Pluto conjunction was moving into her 2nd house of personal finances. The Jupiter Pluto cycle comes full circle later this year. Jupiter takes 12 years to go round the zodiac and brings a helpful extra cash flow when it enters the 2nd. But Jup Pluto is mega quantities. Slow moving Pluto usually begins with a breakdown phase at the start so she was broke in 1995, turned her situation round, exploited Pluto's capacity to earn a huge amount and it is now heading to exit her 2nd house from 2008/09. So arguably money won't come in as huge quantities again. Not that she'll need it.
What is intriguing is that during the last ten years she has had transits of Pluto and Saturn (twice in Pisces and Gemini) triggering her mutable T square of Sat opp Ven, Mer, Ur, Plut, Moon square Jup which for most people with these placings has made it a hugely stressful, chaotic, often negative period. But she has turned her difficulties into solid results, used the really awkward influences to drive her on, not drive her into the ground. Which just goes to show that influences which seem destructive or counter productive can be turned to good use.
The 4th Harmonic chart shows how people approach difficulties in life and not surprisingly hers is immensely strong with a rare Mutable Grand Cross of ambitious Mars in the 10th opposition Mercury square Sun in 1st opposition Jupiter in 7th. So she turns her frenzy into ambition (Mars 10th), communication (Merc), making others feel better (Jup in 7th) and it promotes her (Sun in 1st). She also has an Air Grand Trine of Mars Saturn Neptune which again emphasises her ease with communication. Her 5th Harmonic which usually indicates artistic or craft abilities of drawing together a pleasing result has a hard working, dynamically ambitious collection of Saturn, Sun and Mars in the 10th trine Jupiter Neptune in the 2nd in Taurus. Jup Nep brings a fertile imagination, often mystically or psychically inclined, and it sits in the chart area of personal finances and in Taurus which double up the propensity to turn it into solid resources. Not much research has been done into other harmonics but my tentative feeling is that the 22 Harmonic can indicate great good fortune and extensive influence. Elvis Presley's 22H has a Cardinal Grand square, spanning the financial and entertainment houses. J.K.Rowling also here has a Mars Pluto opp Venus square Sun in the financial and entertainment houses.
For the future she's unlikely to retire instantly with Saturn in her upper quadrant for another 6/7 years. But will perhaps spend more time promoting her favourite causes.
