McCanns From: Marjorie. (09 Aug 2008 21:27): It would be a wonderful thought that Madeleine McCann might be returned to her parents but there''s little in either Gerry or Kate McCann''s chart to suggest great cheer in the coming months. Indeed there are a few setbacks through the autumn. I always thought it would be a very long drawn out agony for them. And all these ''sightings'' which often turn out to be wrong can only make it worse for them. There are some cheerful influences for both come November-ish but I wouldn''t get my hopes too high. Not knowing is the absolute worst. I also wouldn''t rely too heavily on the Belgian police who didn''t exactly cover themselves in great glory over the Marcel Dutroux mess.

McCanns From: Marjorie. (21 Jul 2008 20:30): The news that Gerry and Kate McCann are off the suspect list for the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine comes as transitting Pluto is just onto the trine to Jupiter on Gerry McCann''s chart and also on the Kate/Gerry composite bringing elation and an upsurge of good feeling. But at the same time Kate McCann is feeling discouraged, depressed and angry perhaps as the Portuguese police files are finally opened and they discover how few leads were followed through.
The posting below was put up in February of this year for those wanting a longer recap.
"It''s inordinately difficult the McCann story since there can''t be anything worse than having your child abducted and not knowing what actually happened to her. Worse still to be blamed a) by the unbelievably incompetent Portuguese police and b) by a public who will be sympathetic where they feel they can help, but when they can''t help, will start to hate the parents for constantly pushing a highly distressing scenario in their faces. With this kind of horror it''s always easier to have someone to blame and they are the only ones in profile so to speak. That''s very much in Kate and Gerry McCann''s defence but we really don''t know and there have been a fair number of high profile people who''ve talked to them and come away convinced they are innocent.
Madeleine also disappeared when there was a fixed Grand Square of the Full Moon onto the Saturn Neptune opposition - and that is very paranoid and prone to conspiracy theories. It may also be partly that both Gerry and Kate McCann have Jupiter in Leo square Neptune in their charts - Jup in Leo is a showman, given to extravagant gestures and square Neptune adds a slightly unreal streak to their natures and their image. With Neptune around there''s always a feeling that things aren''t quite as straightforward as they seem. There''s no suggestion in it of anything really nasty - it''s just difficult with Neptune to pin down exactly what is going on.
But it would also have to be said that both Gerry and Kate McCann have fairly stressed birth charts. She is a dreamy Pisces with a fairly spaced out though stubborn Moon opposition Neptune square Venus Mercury widely opposition Jupiter all in fixed signs so she''ll live in her own world most of the time, appearing kind but being fairly inaccessible. Her Sun opposes Pluto which is conjunct Uranus so her life will have been a constant roller coaster from the start. She''s also got a really tough Saturn in Aries conjunction to Mars which suggests she had to learn to rely on herself very young and that at the very least she''d didn''t get given what she needed. There was a hardness in her upbringing which has left its mark, and OK given her endurance and courage, but also made her fairly passive aggressive. She''ll get resentful about those who''ve had easier lives but not say much until one day it all surfaces.
Gerry McCann has a much less fixed chart with three planets in Gemini and three in Virgo but it''s quite a combustible, very scattered combination of Venus, Sun and Mars in Gemini squaring onto Pluto, Uranus, Moon in Virgo. Sun Mars square Pluto is forceful, determined, argumentative. Mars square Uranus doesn''t like interference or compromise. Moon Uranus Pluto suggests a very changeable childhood in which he was constantly getting double messages. He also has a self reliant Saturn in Aries, eased a touch by a trine to Jupiter in Leo.
Neither of them has an easy year coming up. Kate has Uranus opposing Pluto from mid March turning everything upside down and repeating later in the year. She''s also got her Solar Arc Saturn sitting on her Moon at the moment which is discouraging, triggered by a transitting Neptune square all year. Her tertiary progressed Mars is exactly square her Sun in April, making the focal point of a T square to her Sun Pluto opposition which is agitated, insecure and prone to over reacting. Mars then progresses gradually to square Pluto which will be very stuck. She will have some good moments when her tertiary progressed Sun conjuncts Jupiter in March and Pluto trines her Jupiter in June/July and November which is upbeat. But in the months before November she''s got Pluto square Sun/Mars, Sun/Saturn which are really stuck and depressed. And by the autumn dreary Saturn is opposing her Sun, heading for a jolting conjunction to Uranus and Pluto in 09 - so it''s going to go on and on.
Gerry McCann has transitting Uranus square his Mars from mid March which is very upsetting, insecure-making with sudden surprises throwing him off balance. Uranus then opposes his Pluto in April which will be an upheaval. And he''s got Pluto opposing Mercury from March which will bring obsessive thinking or intense discussions. He does have a couple of more confident transits: Uranus trine Sun/Jupiter mid April to mid May and again in August; and Uranus square Jupiter/Node mid May to early August. But Pluto then squares his Moon in August to late October which is very emotionally intense at home at the same time as Kate has those thoroughly difficult Pluto midpoint squares. His Secondary Progressed Moon is forming a T square at the moment to his Moon Uranus Pluto square Mars which won''t clear for another six months which is bringing all that volatile side to his nature into sharper focus. He really won''t start to settle until Uranus moves into Aries after the opposition to his Moon in 2010.

McCanns From: Marjorie. (08 Feb 2008 13:16): The senior Portuguese police have already admitted the early investigation was messed up with perhaps vital forensic evidence being destroyed or contaminated because a great many people were allowed to walk all over the apartment. They also don't seem to have checked out or followed through various witness statements. The fact that the original investigating officer was removed does seem to indicate the authorities knew the case had been mishandled. OK it was a tourist resort not a major city so there wouldn't be top notch police on the ground but even given that, the investigation does seem to have been incompetently handled at the start. People respond in different ways to devastating circumstances. It doesn't necessarily mean they are guilty. Gerry McCann has a Cardinal Saturn in the 10th so will tend to be a doer. His first reaction will be to organise and with Jupiter in Leo in a slightly over-the-top way. And also with all that mutable energy he'd be very scattered, probably unable to fully experience what he was feeling. So keeping himself busy no doubt was his way of handling his grief and his guilt at leaving the children alone.

McCanns From: Marjorie. (10 Nov 2007 14:10): I keep avoiding doing more on the McCann family tragedy, which gets no easier with continual Spanish/Portuguese media stories slanted against the parents - and little obvious progress from a shambolic police investigation. Plus the niggling feeling that everyone seems to have that everything is not quite what it seems. However birth dates and times have emerged for Gerry McCann - 5 June 1968, 7.45 am Glasgow, Scotland; and Kate McCann - 5 March 1968 Liverpool, England with two suggested times - 6.50 am and 7.45 am. Kate McCann was born only seven weeks after Heather Mills, the about-to-be ex-Lady Paul McCartney, so shares with her the unsettled, restless Uranus Pluto conjunction in Virgo which is being highly stressed at the moment and the self reliant defensive Saturn in Aries. If anything Kate McCann has a trickier chart since her Pisces Sun is opposition Uranus Pluto so her sensitivity would always have been constantly jolted through life by erratic circumstances or partners. Sun Pluto makes her feel trapped; Sun Uranus does the exact opposite prompting a fight for freedom. She also has a close Mars in Aries conjunction to Saturn suggesting her early life was not easy, or designed around her needs. She does however have a steady Taurus Moon, admittedly opposition Neptune so while maintaining a stalwart position she is head-in-the- clouds and day dreamy a good deal of the time. She has a fixed grand square of Neptune opp Moon square Venus, Mercury, Ascendant in Aquarius opp Jupiter in Leo so she is charming, though detached, is good at keeping up appearances, tends to be over trusting, and dislikes change. This is the chart of a person who finds independence difficult to achieve.
Madeleine, her first child born with IVF help after years of trying, arrived the day the Sun was exactly conjunct Kate McCann's Moon which is classic child parent connection. Transitting Mars and Neptune were just into her first house so she would feel energised and confused at the same time; Jupiter just into her 7th so she'd be more confident socially and in partnership terms. Uranus just into Pisces was heading towards her Sun some four years ahead and Pluto was at the square to her natal Pluto also hinting at a rocky road ahead until Pluto clears Uranus (this year) and Uranus meets the opposition about two years on from now.
Gerry McCann born three months later also has the Uranus Pluto conjunction strongly emphasised, conjunct his Virgo Moon and square his Venus, Sun, Mars in Gemini conjunction. He is passionately enthusiastic, a good talker, charming though also highly restless, overly excitable and fairly changeable in his moods. Uranus Pluto for all its downside of contradictions and instability can also be a reformer especially in the area of health (Virgo).
Their relationship chart has a very positive Sun Jupiter trine so can boost each other's morale and Jupiter's enthusiasm smooths round rough edges. Jupiter also sits on the point of a fixed T square so it can be idealistic about social change, though also indulgent and extravagant. Squaring onto a Mars Neptune opposition perhaps hints at their propensity to go for publicity in their desperation to find Madeleine. It also hints at a relationship where one would also be more successful than the other. There is a coolness also from Venus close to Saturn square the Moon, so work would often get in the way of family fun.
This month to mid December 07 sees Uranus conjunct Kate's Sun and square Gerry's so it's highly unsettled with sudden surprises. Gerry has Pluto trine Jupiter in December (again Aug to Nov 08) which is confident, forceful, usually successful, at the same time as Pluto square Moon which brings intense emotional reactions. Those were around after Madeleine's disappearance and the Pluto Jupiter would be what kept him afloat and pushing hard. Kate will not have an easy December but Pluto picks up her Jupiter from late December which will help to boost her confidence into 2008. Not that it will be an easy year since Gerry's Mars in Gemini square Pluto (plus associated planets) are being jolted in a highly insecure way by transitting Uranus, which may prompt him to over react. And Kate has Uranus opposition her Pluto (conjunct Uranus) so the ups and downs will continue.

McCanns and Portugal From: Marjorie. (10 Oct 2007 20:29): Since the story about little Madeleine McCann's disappearance seems to get weirder by the day it seemed timely to have a look at Portugal's chart. This long running tragic saga has dragged the country, best known for its sherry and sunny holidays, into the forefront of international news and put the spotlight on the competence and methods of its police force.
Portugal was once a significant European centre of power, wealth and learning but has since slid into the background. It's birth as a republic came in 1910 and a military coup took control in 1974 so both charts seem useful. The 1910 chart has a highly strung exact Uranus Neptune opposition, which is usually a sign of social unrest and psychic sensitivities which can lead to neurosis, or to rigid, fanatical attitudes. It squares exactly onto a rather sugary sweet Moon Jupiter conjunction in Libra which will tend to produce double standards, wanting to be all things to all people but tending to make moral judgements for others. There's also a Sun Mars conjunction widely conjunct Jupiter, which makes for dynamic activity, though also a hint of might makes right which is also emphasised by the Pluto Jupiter trine. Mercury and Venus in Virgo describe charming and practical communications. But squaring onto Pluto there's again a hint of the darker side of Portugal, with its superstitions and paranoias. Especially since this conjunction trines and sextiles onto the Uranus Neptune opposition. It gives a complex picture of a country split between superficial niceness on the one hand and an undercurrent of deep unease. The military coup chart of 1974 is more obviously tough minded if not brutal though again the dichotomy of sweet and sour appears. Mars Saturn in Cancer on the midheaven points to military intervention and military government as well as cruelty, and squaring onto a 1st house Pluto suggests an unyielding approach, great secrecy and stubbornness. On the lighter, brighter side the Gemini Moon opposes Neptune and squares onto Venus and Jupiter in Pisces which can be charmingly vague and very charitable though it sits oddly with the chilling Mars Saturn Pluto. The Moon's North Node in both charts is being aspected by transit this year (by Neptune) suggesting there would be karmic or significant events affecting the country's direction. Neptune to the Node can be a sign of a need to be more spiritual and to heal and if the opportunity is missed a sign that decay is setting in. On the 1974 chart as well Pluto is moving into the 4th house suggesting deep seated profoundly emotional changes are approaching.
Gerry McCann's chart (Madeleine's father) hits the Portugal 1910 chart at a very awkward angle as his self reliant Saturn in Aries opposes the Portugal Moon (exactly) and Jupiter and squares Uranus and Neptune, so he pushes against their rigidity, and vagueness and arouses their deepest neurotic suspicions. His rebellious Uranus Pluto conjunction also hits their Venus Mercury and squares their Pluto so again he rattles their surface charm and clashes with their need to control. His interface with the 1974 chart is no better since their angry, resentful Mars Saturn is exactly conjunct his Mercury in Cancer causing them to retaliate. His Saturn also conjuncts their Mercury and opposes their Uranus, so communication was always going to be at crossed swords. And his Sun Mars in Gemini conjuncts their Moon so he shakes them out of their apathy causing impatience and irritation.
Madeleine's chart is also at cross purposes and even more directly strikes at the heart or soul of both the Portugal charts. Her rather bleak Saturn Pluto opposition connects with the Portugal 1910 Pluto (her Saturn exactly conjunct their Pluto) suggesting a dark fated misconnection. Her Mars Neptune squares their unaspected Saturn in Taurus so perhaps the publicity surrounding her disappearance hits at Portugal's sense of inadequacy and lack of open heartedeness. Her Venus in Aries squares their neurotic Uranus Neptune opposition. Even more pointed is her connection to the 1974 chart since her Pluto falls within a degree of their Sagittarian Moon's North Node and opposing their Gemini Moon. In a sad way her fate will prompt them to gain deeper insights into their beliefs and to develop better resources in future which is what this cross over indicates.
The composite charts of both Gerry and Madeleine McCann to the Portuguese charts make depressing reading and don't hint at a resolution any time soon. Gerry McCann/Portugal 1910 had a wide-ish yod of Saturn at 28 Aries onto a Neptune Uranus sextile (23 Virgo Scorpio). Pluto will continue to exert great pressure on the Yod till late in 2008. The yod gives a sense of fatedness that changes the life's direction of both. The 28 degree placing also shows up in his composite with Portugal 1974 with a troubling Mars (27 Gemini) Saturn (28 Gemini) opposition to Uranus (20 Sag) - again Pluto will rattle that severely in November and again through 2008, and Uranus then picks up the jolting square to the composite Uranus through 2008 as well. Madeleine's composite chart with Portugal 1974 also shows up the 28 degrees dramatically with a Saturn (Gemini) Uranus (Sag) opposition being afflicted by Pluto till late 2008. This unhappy family seem to be inextricably tied into a seemingly never ending struggle with Portugal and are somehow key to a part of the country's destiny.

Madeleine McCann From: Marjorie. (10 Sep 2007 20:15): I'm always slightly hesitant about commenting on ongoing investigations especially ones as tragic as this one. And having looked at Gerry McCann's chart (5 June 1968) it didn't look as if he was sailing into smoother waters anytime soon so it didn't feel right to make their lives worse by saying so. Frankly I wouldn't trust the Portuguese police. Their initial investigation was lackadaisical to put it mildly and their late ' forensic evidence' does sound highly suspect.
Madeleine's chart (12 May 2003) makes her a Sun and Mercury in Taurus square Jupiter in Leo opposition Mars and Neptune in Aquarius so she would be bright, playful, quite a performer. Though with a Saturn Pluto opposition perhaps squaring onto a late Virgo Moon (morning birth) she did have a bleak side and could be quite emotionally turned in. She was a fourth-try IVF baby who suffered a good deal from colic in her early months. Assuming a late Virgo Moon that mutable T square had been triggered by the March late Pisces Solar Eclipse.
The chart of her disappearance (3 May 2007 9.30 pm or thereabouts, Faro, Portugal)Has Mars Moon's Node and Uranus in Pisces in the 4th which would fit a sudden violent upheaval emotionally in her home surroundings, squaring onto a 2nd house Jupiter Pluto in Sag opposition Venus in Gemini in the 8th, which has unsettling financial implications and also suggests brutal force (Jup Pluto Mars). Neptune on the cusp on the 4th opp Saturn squares the Taurus Sun and Mercury in the 6th, opposition Scorpio Moon in the 1st so very confusing, disorienting (Sat Nep), separated from both mother and father (Sat squ Sun & Moon), with health implications.
Gerry McCann (wife Kate same age tho' don't know her birthday) is part of the Uranus Pluto generation who are all undergoing major upheavals in their lives at present as transitting Pluto and Uranus bounce off that volatile conjunction. He is also a Sun, Mars, Venus in Gemini square Uranus Pluto so is excitable, restless, impatient. He also may have a late Virgo Moon close to Uranus and Pluto, or an early Libra Moon. His Saturn in Aries suggests resilience and resourcefuleness (he was one of 5 children of Irish immigrants). Saturn trines Jupiter in Leo so there is an element of balance there and the ability to put on a performance when necessary for the media. Uranus still has a final square to go this year to his Sun in November to mid December which is always highly strung with sudden changes and then into 2008 Uranus squares his Mars which will be insecure and agitated as well as Uranus opposing Pluto which will turn his life upside down. Though with Pluto trine his Jupiter till late 2008 he'll have the confidence to stay the course with some luck on his side. Pluto could be squaring his Moon now which is emotional shocks and intense reactions, and will oppose Mercury in 2009 as Uranus opposes Uranus so he's got a ways to go before his life settles into any semblance of even semi-normality.
