UPDATE: INPUT 5 November 07. Vladimir Putin’s grip on power and Russia’s future are at a critical stage with elections approaching in December (result foregone conclusion) and Putin theoretically standing down as President in February 08. There are murmurings of internal dissent within the Kremlin as well as without about Putin’s stanglehold on power, the media and the country’s wealth.
2007 was a high risk, impatient, frustrating year for him with Pluto conjunct his Sagittarian Mars until late October. Since his Mars natally is in trine to Pluto it would push him to be even more ruthless though also make him feel substantially blocked. He also had a flicker in May 07 of Neptune opposing his Pluto which tends to have a dissolving effect on power and control. That returns throughout 2008 from late February till January 09. Plus he is still labouring under Neptune square his Jupiter till late December 07 which tends to bring ‘false happiness’, overly high hopes which turn into disappointment. Late November to mid January will damp his enthusiasm, find him delaying decisions and having to push himself hard to make progress with new plans.
2008 looks to be a year with mixed blessings, highs and lows for him. March will bring upsets and upheavals, high tension and a sudden adjustment to new circumstances. But at the same time he’ll be relieved with lucky breaks, chances to travel freely and perhaps even a bonus or two in sight. Late April/May, August 08 and January 09 will be slightly risky, accident prone, provoking or testing times for him.
If his birth time of 9.30 am is correct he won’t retreat to his country dasha into peaceful retirement but will be an active player for years to come.
His relationship chart to Russia shows has an exact Pluto square Sun Mars conjunction which perfectly describes his iron grip on the country. The relationship is under considerable pressure from late December 07 throughout 2008. It also shows a good deal of distrust, paranoia and suspicion which will be at its height in the months till mid January 08. His standing in regard to Russia will alter dramatically in 2010 perhaps with a more welcoming attitude from the general public.
On both Russian charts (1917 and 1991) 2008 looks to be a hopeful year with rising confidence. Though 2009 looks to be a tense dangerous time with Pluto picking up the national Mars, perhaps as a result of internal pressure from the population at certain measures which have been put in place. It’ll be a bumpy ride between 2012 and 2015 as Pluto is conjunct the 4th house Uranus and Neptune (1991 chart) which will bring major upheavals and anxiety. But there will be constructive changes ongoing at the same time as Pluto trines the natal Sun.
BIRTH CHART: On the birth time of 9:30 am given by his official site webmaster he would have a Scorpio ascendant, reflected in his cool charm (Venus in Scorpio in the 1st), stubborness secrecy and ex-KGB background. His hidden Sun, Saturn, Neptune, Mercury stellium in Libra the 12th also hint at a retiring personality who thrives working behind-the-scenes and is exceptionally good at hiding his anxieties. His is a strongly air chart, with four planets in Libra and a Gemini Moon which suggest an intelligent, creative, visionary personality with paranoid tendencies, who relies on his intellectual assessments of situations, against all advice and at times against all common sense. A Uranus square from Cancer makes him erratic, given to irrational judgement calls, at times a highly de-stabilising influence. A strongly emphasised Pluto on the point of a fixed T-square on his mid heaven makes him immensely resourceful in crisis, gives him endurance to the nth degree, and a need to be in total control at all times. With only one planet in earth signs, indulgent Jupiter in Taurus, he lacks a strong connection with reality and also lacks a capacity for practical organisation. Pluto also trines flamboyant, fanatical Mars in Sagittarius emphasising his capacity for ruthless actions.
