There have always been serious doubts about the Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes marriage though it would have to be said with a Sun Venus Pluto conjunction in their composite there are good feelings and affection though hints of a good deal of control as well which usually ends in a power struggle with a bitter separation when it falls to bits. Plus the Sun is conjunct Uranus which tends to bring instant attraction though one which often does not last. There's a fair amount of pressure on their relationship building up now with Pluto square the composite Pluto and Venus (08/09) and then the Sun (09/10) and it's usually these kind of influences which start breaking things down. Plus transitting Neptune is square the Jupiter opp Sat Nep in the composite in 09/10 which brings disappointment.
Their wedding chart was not good - all flash and show with some really swampy aspects with a Mars, Sun, Jupiter, Venus conjunction squaring onto the Saturn Neptune opposition - so not all what it seemed. 09/10 will see transitting Neptune undermining the wedding Sun and 09 also has Neptune opposing Saturn exactly which brings confusion, doubt and suspicion. Tom Cruise isn't having a good 2009 anyway personally since transitting Neptune squares his Mars and opposes Uranus which hints at failure in his career. Saturn is also conjunct his Jupiter later this year into 09 which will damp his confidence as well. And Katie Holmes has Uranus square her Sagittarian Sun in 09 as well as Pluto conjunct her Mars (09/10) so she's rebellious and hugely angry and feeling really stuck.
As to the Beckham Cruise love-in that was mainly Victoria since her composites to both look friendly and upbeat. But I suspect what skewered the Victoria/Katie connection was a real one-upmanship struggle since their composite has a Mars opp Pluto square Venus - intense closeness at first and then turning tricky, especially with transitting Pluto square that Mars since early March and it won't disappear for another 18 months. Victoria's composite with Tom Cruise is also under separating influences this year. The media story I read said David B was now cosier with Tom Cruise but truthfully that is a horrible relationship - not a good buddy buddy bond at all. There might have been some superficial fun early on but there's real aggravation between them. David's Taurus Sun is opposing Cruise's Neptune and square his Saturn and David's Saturn is conjunct Cruise's Sun which really damps down warmth. That will part before this year is three quarters through, I reckon.
Victoria is having a really tough year though she's putting a good face on it. From mid June onwards she has for the final time Pluto opposition her Mars and then her Saturn right through till late November which is a punishing set of influences, bleak, exhausting, angry and frustrating.
Tom Cruise and Scientology From: Marjorie. (06 Jan 2008 17:56): The spotlight is being turned again onto Tom Cruise and his association with Scientology with news of the approaching Andrew Morton unauthorised Cruise biography in the US (being threatened with a multi million dollar lawsuit by the Scientology organisation). What is extraordinary are the similarities between Cruise's birth chart and that of Ron Hubbard, the controversial founder of the Scientology religion. [Google Ron Hubbard wikipedia for his background, which is odd in the extreme.]
Both have a water grand trine of Sun Jupiter and Neptune which in its negative mode is escapist, overly sensitive, with an exaggerated need for nurturing and safety, so tends to retreat into an inner dream world. It often disconnects those who have it from outside reality. Marilyn Monroe had one in her chart. Jupiter Neptune is spiritual but also a guru chaser, found in those who are attracted to mystical cults. Both Hubbard and Cruise have hard aspects of Mars to Uranus, which is prone to recklessness, overly impulsive and has a serious dislike of outside interference. Both have Sun Pluto aspects giving a need to hold power and have influence.
Hubbard's chart it would have to be said is the weirder of the two with a close Mars Uranus conjunction in Capricorn in the 2nd house, giving him a violent streak and an active though erratic ambition to earn money. Opposing Neptune in the 8th, he would be drawn to psychic activities, perhaps even to manipulating occult powers for financial gain - he was involved just after WW11 with Aleister Crowley. Such an afflicted Neptune in the 8th also points to deception around business finances and taxes, both of which have figured largely in the history of the Scientology movement. Neptune in the 8th also points to confusing circumstances around death. He would at times be veering towards the psychotic since that Uranus Neptune opposition is highly unstable in this position, given to irrational beliefs, and the addition of Mars would make it all the more volatile. Religion may have been his vehicle but making money was his driving force with Jupiter in Scorpio, Mars Uranus in Capricorn in the 2nd and Saturn in Taurus. A 3rd house Sun square Pluto in the 7th would make him a persuasive speaker and writer, though overly intense and fiercely determined to be in control.
Tom Cruise's chart has been going through some debilitating phases in recent years especially when Neptune was conjunct his Saturn and square Neptune in 2002/3 as his marriage to Nicole Kidman parted. He is facing another challenging phase as Neptune draws closer to squaring his Mars in 2009 which is failure-ridden and then opposing his Uranus in 2010 which is very highly strung and confusing. Saturn at this moment is conjunct his Pluto which is stuck and continues on after mid 08 to damp his enthusiastic Jupiter as well as square his Mercury into 2009 which is depressing. His Secondary Progressed Sun is also heading to square Mars in about 18 months time and conjunct his Uranus a year later which will find him agitated in the extreme, prone to impulsive actions to prop up his self esteem.
His marriage to Katie Holmes, much mentioned in Morton's book, is under considerable strain this year with Pluto square Pluto and square Venus on the composite. Katie Holmes, a dreamy Sagittarian, will be very edgy this year especially in March and thrown completely off balance in 2009. That is the year that Uranus squares her Sun which is highly upsetting, not a time she'll want to compromise; and Neptune squares their composite Neptune and Jupiter as well as approaching a square to the composite Sun so pressures will be building which could split them apart. Their wedding chart also reflects these stresses with an insecure Uranus trine Mars this February; and Neptune opposing Saturn from late April onwards for two years which is major anxiety and confusion. Then into 2009 Neptune squares the Sun which is not encouraging or supportive and Uranus squares Pluto which will turn everything upside down. The date chosen for the wedding was unwise astrologically since it has a Neptune opposition Saturn which in turn squares Mars, Sun, Jupiter, Venus - very expensive and showy, but lacking in stability and warmth.
PRESENT INFLUENCES: With Uranus trine his Sun and in conjunction with Jupiter through 2006, the latter having a final hit in January 2007, there would be lucky breaks in his life and the chance to move in a new direction. Though both Neptune and Saturn continue their slow trawl round his fixed grand cross (see below) which is uncertain and disorienting emotionally and professionally, unsettling his security and sense of reality. Saturn will finish a rather dampening three years of cutbacks, delays and setbacks from September 2007, but won’t disappear without an awkward square to Mars and conjunction with Uranus in August 07 which will bring aggravations, arguments, perhaps accidents and jolting changes. Neptune, which is slower moving, has been undermining his stubbornly determined grip since the late 1990s, with 2002 and 2003 very worrying times. 2006 saw Neptune oppose Venus which can be highly romantic but also brings illusions leading to disappointment. It will be 2009 before Neptune squares Mars for two years bringing a panicky sense of failure; with the additional Neptune opposition Uranus in 2010 which is highly strung and brings psychological worries.
WEDDING and RELATIONSHIP: His highly publicised Scientology wedding to Katie Holmes was on 18th November 2006 at approximately 5pm in Bracciano, Italy. It was an inauspicious day to pick astrologically speaking for a wedding since the start date puts a stamp on the marriage which follows. The wedding chart certainly indicates a great splash and much secrecy with Sun close to Jupiter in late Scorpio and a flamboyant Venus in early Sagittarius. But the Sun also close to Mars was only one day after an exact square to Saturn which can be cold, separating, with an over emphasis on work. The Neptune Saturn opposition is also in play, so this is a marriage based on great uncertainty, doubt and suspicion which will continue to throw up worry as it proceeds. The Mars Neptune square was also the day before the wedding which fits in with the glamour of showbusiness pzazz but is undermining, and the illusion of glitter usually hides a very different reality. Saturn is also only one degree away from an exact trine to Pluto suggesting a marriage with a bleak side, with both sides feeling chained together which will lead to resentment. Uranus also squares Pluto so it will go through major upheavals. Difficulties in built into this marriage will be there from the start with Saturn reaching the exact trine to Pluto in late November and early December and repeating mid 07, which will put a chill over warmth. If the marriage chart is taken as the civil service in LA several days earlier then the Sun Saturn square and the Mars Neptune square are approaching which if anything makes the problems greater.
Pluto squares Pluto on the composite chart of Cruise/Katie Holmes from late January 07 for a couple of years suggesting huge problems in adjustment with pressures building. With Pluto in opposition to Mars in the composite chart this is anyway a relationship of unequals with great power being wielded on one side with an almost ruthless edge. Uranus will conjunct Mars from March 05 for a year which will bring angry outbursts and great insecurity. Again late July and August 07 show up as thoroughly discouraging times for them as a couple as Saturn squares the Cruise/Holmes Jupiter and then Saturn and Neptune. This is when Cruise’s own birth chart shows awkward transits and Saturn is then square Sun and Jupiter on the wedding chart. Optimism will be at an all time low. Their composite or relationship chart does have a close Sun Venus conjunction which brings much affection though Uranus close by also suggests a relationship which needs a good deal of personal space. But with Mars in opposition to Pluto there will be power struggles or suppression by one side of the other. Jupiter opposes Saturn and Neptune so there will be running uncertainties, anxieties and fears about the stability of their bond.
KATIE HOLMES: 18 December 1978 9.32 pm Toledo Junction, Ohio, USA. An optimistic Sagittarian with vague, dreamy Neptune in conjunction with her Sun, she will dream wonderful dreams but dislike checking out reality. Mars in Capricorn with Jupiter and Moon in Leo suggests someone who likes living the five star way, is attracted to money and a flamboyant lifestyle. With Saturn in Virgo square Neptune she is a worrier and can at times be neurotic, even slightly paranoid. A passionate Venus in Scorpio is uncomfortably placed next to disruptive Uranus so she’ll be contradictory in her emotional relationships wanting intimate closeness and freedom.
2006 brought jolting changes into her life with Uranus opposing Saturn which finishes in February 2007. Uranus was also trine Venus bringing emotional highs and some lows; it finishes in February 2007 as well. 2006 and 2007 are also years of great pressure as Pluto conjuncts her Sun, February to May, December 06 and July to November 07. Her life will feel as if it is being dismantled and reconstructed. 2007 also sees Uranus square Neptune which is highly strung, not prone to good judgements. Saturn is also disappearing below her ascendant through the winter of 06/07 and continues into a low profile few years when she will be retreating more from public view and will in the immediate years ahead be facing unresolved emotional and psychological issues.
TOM CRUISE CHART: If his birth time is accurate then he has an ambitious 10th house Cancerian Sun, so is creative, keen to gain public recognition, has initiative and needs an audience to make him feel whole. He is also family and home centred, happiest when surrounded by his childhood family and his children. Lucky Jupiter trines his Sun so he has talent helped along by good fortune. Falling in Pisces it goes along with a charitable, compassionate streak. It also trines onto Neptune emphasising the kindness but also hinting at a guru chaser, someone who wants to follow a vision, perhaps the roots of his commitment to Scientology. A water grand trine (Sun, Jupiter, Neptune) make him very emotionally self protective and self contained, scared of letting others too close since he may be overwhelmed or hurt. He escapes into an inner, private world which can make him prone to illusions, since he dislikes testing out reality. But the water grand trine also makes him a comforter of the sick and frequently accompanies artistic talent. What is extraordinary about his chart is that more than half of his planets are in fixed signs – Moon, North Node, Venus, Uranus in Leo, Neptune in Scorpio, Saturn in Aquarius, Mars in Taurus - suggesting deep stubborness, great endurance, the ability to hang on through thick or thin to his ideas. He finds change exceptionally difficult and can be inflexible and uncompromising. This is the most testing of the grand squares since he will find it difficult to clear out old resentments or let go. With four planets in Leo he adores a flamboyant lifestyle, likes to go the five star way and enjoys the company of children. Jupiter opposition Pluto makes him pushy, ignoring social niceties where necessary to achieve his aims. Squaring onto Mercury he can be intense when he talks, veering between pessimism (Pluto) and optimism (Jupiter). Since this is a mutable T square it can make him nervy and scattered.
